Did they buy the printed filter paper from a company in Somerset (or thereabouts) called Imperial Tobacco? (again, or similar name… it was over 35 years ago!) If so, I worked at the ink company that sold them the ink! It was astonishing how much ink was used each week and i tried to calculate how many cigarettes it produced and the number was staggering. Each and every week.
Trump and Vance were talking to him like he was a child and wanted him to grovel and beg to them.
Vance said “say ‘thank you’ say ‘thank you’”… this is a form of coercive control. I had flashbacks to when an old girlfriend threatened me in order to say “sorry” for something (I hadn’t done). I realised then it was all about control rather than whatever i was meant to apologise for, that didn’t matter. Didn’t last long and nor will this.
“You come to the Oval Office and disrespect us….” total ambush.
Trump has no interest in facts, just over exaggerates everything for impact. Keeps saying they’ve provided $350billion in aid when it’s not even half that. What they have provided is good, without doubt, but get it right at least.
Gets dates wrong, says in started (Crimea) in 2015 and had to be reminded, twice i think, it was 2014.
Whatever people’s view on the whole situation in Ukraine is, you cannot have world leaders behaving like this, its appalling. They are effectively trying to force him out. You then had Lindsay Graham wading in afterwards.
Trump is putting words into Zelenskys mouth by suggesting he doesn’t want peace. What’s really going on here is whatever form peace comes in, it has to be on Trumps terms and to Trumps benefit. Thats why Lindsay Graham was saying afterwards that he “did not believe Zelensky should have brought up ceasefires or security concerns ahead of the deal.” Of course not, they want to sign a deal on their terms only before any of that is discussed so it becomes void by then.
Unless there’s some big turnaround somewhere, Zelenksky will have lost the US support and have to decide to continue without it or stand down and let someone else do it, but they’ll just end up being a Trump puppet.
All 'Steve's' comments about changing himself etc are just soundbites. He'll probably be more careful in future but I doubt he'll turn into a saint as a result of this.
QPR seem to be getting their income>player salaries ratio down year on year. 92% is still not good but it is coming down.
Do we become less competitive for now? Probably, yes. Do we survive? Most definitely.
Hopefully there will become a time where other clubs decide to cut their cloth and we can then become competitive having already been ahead of the curve.
It's been brought up and considered multiple times already. We're just going around in circles. There's is nothing new today than there was a few months ago. How about we patiently (I know it's not easy) wait until there is some concrete development/announcement from the club about how they plan to progress in terms of either updating the existing ground or looking at alternatives sites.
I'll leave it at that.
NB: before anyone else says it, yes, I'm aware that if I don't agree with the thread I should just ignore it and let others discuss it blah blah blah....
With respect, you have had this conversation so many times on other threads, why keep bringing it up again and again?
(and yes, I'm grumpy today 'cos some dimwit Gen Z at work expected me, in front of an audience, to do their job for them so I had to 'remind' them that it is their role to do what was being asked)
I love Eze but if any PL player being paid (I don't call it 'earning') absolutely stupid amounts per week consider themselves to be in doldrums, they need to join reality.
It won't be 20k, more like 15/16k. The footprint is just not big enough to meet all the modern day requirements of a new stadium, or revamp of the existing stadium, to be able to hit 20k.
All: please use the search facility, this topic has been done to death and every avenue explored, questioned, answered etc. including digging down, buying the school, buying all the Ellerslie Road houses (yeah, dead easy that), building over South Africa Road and so on.
I do that too on my into work (as well as the Hammersmith flyover and then westway) and the amount of large vans that go over, which are not allowed, is staggering. Love it when there's a police car at the end and they then get pulled over.
Not sure why they can't put a forward facing camera which reads the number plate and if it's a commercial van, £30 fine. This is not about being a cash cow but a genuine deterrent to stop heavy vehicles going over it and keeping it safe. It was hell when it was closed for a number of months while it was being strengthened.
