I agree with Pat generally, that AA/KWP work better on the right than Sulemana/Manning on the left, and that Manning is the weak link. But also, in this game, Sulemana was much more obviously executing his defensive/ tracking role. I remmeber in particular a great tackle he made right on our by-line in the 1st half. Generally I thought he had a really good all-round game. Manning is what he is. He's often put of position in a way that somebody else tracking back can't make up for. He doesn't know how to close down opponents running the wing--he's often just too far away from them to be effective. He's usually far enough away that he can neither stop them nor intercept their crosses/passes. He's a very obvious weakness in a side that is beginning to look like it knows what it's supposed to do. Other comments above are right...other teams will exploit this. And as lots of people here have been saying for a while, his performance makes the deciison to let Perraud go look very silly. |

Line-up should almost pick itself.... Bazunu KWP, Bednarek, Holgate, Manning Downes, Charles Alcaraz A.Armstrong, Edozie or Fraser Adams. But RM's big problem will be whether to start Adams there up front rather than S. Armstrong further back... tactical formation decision but a good one to have . to make. Not sure Sulemana is going to be in the reckoning yet. I'd be surprised to even see him on the bench [Post edited 2 Sep 2023 7:38]

My predictions, you can mark me out of ten, but just for fun.... 1) Adams will stay, one way or another 2) Sulemana is one of those mysterious commodities in football. He hasn't shown he's worth anywhere near 30 mil, and Everton don't seem to have the money to pay such a fee. But somebody somewhere has a financial interest in him. Prediction is that he leave somehow, but probably not to Everton. 3) Mara, might be a real talent one day and Werder Bremen aren't risking anything, so yes, he goes. 4) ABK, the deal with the Germans seems shaky at this point. He might well stay. 5) Stewart is probably gonna get signed, whether or not we lose Adams. 6) Paintsil for Oanachu still looks like a possibility but prediction is Oanachu goes without Paintsil coming back 7) Wood, Roberts, Harwood, Diangana...none of them gonna happen, with Wood being the only likley one. 8) Some other name not mentioned above will emerge as a significant signing. |

When i wrote I thought Lyanco was gone. Larios, dunno...has he been in any of the friendly squads? And yes, of course, who knows. y point was to isolate the players you could be pretty sure were staying and who tehrefore you'd be building the team around. just to see what it looks like, and it doesn't look great to me. |

Even though there’s ages to go before the transfer deadline, I think yesterday’s game gave a little more sense not only of how RM’s team will play, but of who will be featuring. First, let’s subtract the players slated for leaving, or with lots of speculation at least: Livramento, KWP, Salisu, ABK, JWP, Lavia, Aribo, Alcaraz, Tella, Suleman, Adams, Onahachu (I doubt all of them will be leaving of course, and keeping just three or four of them would be a massive boost. But if they did it could be a haul of about $300 million!) If they all did leave, I think we can look at the following as the core of the squad: GK: Bazunu, McCarthy FB: Bree, Manning (Perraud?) CB: Bednarek, Stephens, Caleta-C MF: Smallbone, Charles, (S. Armstrong?) AM: Edozie, Djenepo F: Mara, A.Armstrong I put in Perraud and S. Armstrong, because I’ve heard no rumors about them leaving). I’d expect some youngsters to be in the squad: Amo-A, Ballard, possibly Dibling and Meghoma. My conclusion is that some wise spending will need to be done from the sales...especially up front and in goal! What ya think? |

Selles is the common denominator with the last two managers, and now he's the man. Perhaps all those weird team selections and substituions are down to him? |

The squad is pretty big, so someone has to step away. Bree's absence seems exlicable. The C-Car and Orsic sitiation seems to suggest problems we don't know about. A couple of others issing...Edozie and Aribo. Maybe both just dropped? |

You have to be wearing funny coloured glasses or smoking something to think this is a reasonable thing for a manager to say in public. One way of looking at it.... If he expects to lose 15 games a season, he must therefore expect to get point in the other 23, which is points in 60% of the games. Our record over the last 25 games is we have points in 9 of them. That's points in 36%. So, we're not exactly doing enough to make up for accepting the loss of 15 games a season. |
| Forum Thread | Walcott? at 01:08 19 Oct 2022
Ralph seems to have been preparing the ground for starting Theo Walcott @ Bournemouth. I haven't spoken to a single Saints fan (or Everton fan) who thinks that would be a good idea. But maybe we're all missing something? What could be the reasons for even thinking about starting him? |

wouldn't you agree that we rather flirted with relegation last year? A few results went for us that could have doomed us had they not. |

| Forum Thread | predict the IX? at 03:56 13 Aug 2022
It's harder to predict the team sheet than the score against Leeds. Nobody (probably including the players) has any idea what team the arrogant genius is going to pick for today. This is the IX I think he SHOULD START Bazunu, KWP, Bednarek, Salisu, Perraud, Lavia or Romeu, JWP, S.Armstrong, Aribo, Adams, A.Armstrong. Here's what I think the madcap will produce: Bazunu or McCarthy, KWP, Bednarek, Stephens, Salisu, Djenepo, Lavia, JWP, Romeu, Aribo, A. Armstrong or S.Armstriong Either way, we're gonna lose 1-3. And why not? She has proven herself at a much higher level and has a lot more to crow about than bloody RH. And also she has the benefit of not being an arrogant idiot. |
