| Forum Reply | Do you have to be from Swansea to support The Swans ? at 17:32 28 Sep 2024
As Keith said, the MAGS (& the GITs before then) had a huge non-Welsh element. As for myself, I grew up in Lowestoft (the most easterly place in England) and fell in love with Tosh's Super Swans in '81. Never even considered either changing my team in all that time, or considered myself a 'lesser supporter'. After all, I was there that awful night in Boston in the autumn of 2002. Many others weren't, if that suddenly has to start counting for some bizarre reason. Been following them for over 40 years and consider myself a 100% JB, whether others like that or not is up to them. If it helps, I now live further west on the outskirts of Norwich. By my reckoning, at that rate I should acquire an SA postcode well before my 900th birthday. On the other hand, maybe just maybe, it matters not where you are from, but where you are going and what you are believing in. Yours, an English Swansea City supporter. And breathe... Apologies if this has been asked / answered already, but what are the official kit shirt sizings like for kids this season? If it's the same as the adult ones for the last few years, where you needed to go up a size or two if you wanted to wear it AND be able to breathe, I'll buy a size 14y one for a 10 year-old, but would appreciate any thoughts. |

Well, the gamble paid off yesterday. Jnr's had a sore throat all day from all the screaming and shouting & she's still hyped 24 hours later. I have also lost my 1990s scarf to the cause. She was in the car earlier, singing "you're only here to wash the Swans", which strikes me as being both endearing and also a far more dangerous form of entertainment. Oh, and she's also taken a shine to Liam Cullen, so thank goodness the club took up the contract extension! |

Another wasted sub option when Yates came on. Surely letting him go on a free transfer would be more productive than another season with him up front. Lowe coming on as sub was the other end of the spectrum, tying down the right side of the Norwich defence as soon as he came on. No standout MOTM (for me at least). One of those games where the overall collective team effort got us over the line, despite the obligatory heart-stopping "faffing about at the back" moments. |

Got to hope the tension kicks in again, as it did for them against Bristol City last home game. At least it's stopped raining here in Costa Del Hellesdon, just north of Norwich. Still bloody cold for April though! |

Compleat Angler is now about the only pub in Norwich which welcomes away fans these days. Alas, even that option is removed for me this year with Jnr. in tow. Maybe a pint of cider before we leave at lunchtime is in order instead! |

Not sure I've chosen the right time to buy my daughter a ticket to see her first ever live Swans match @ Norwich later this month. Seems cruel to do that to an adult at the moment, never mind to a child. On the plus side, they bounce back well from despair at that age. Hopefully... |

3-2 Luton, AET, presuming they won't go straight to penalties. |

Luton win, please. Firstly, some of us of a certain age might like to see another Mr Pleat jig, this time at Wembley. Ok, just me then. Secondly, it would be interesting to see if Mr Watson still really wants to join us. |

Cheers for the insight - I was only 6 at the time and my exposure to football back then was going to Portman Road with my uncle occasionally. Admittedly not too bad though, with the line-up they had at the time! |

Although it's a no from me, do those who are older than myself have any memories of similar reservations etc when Toshack took over in '78? From what I've read in various publications, it all seemed all exciting and positive at the time with the prospect of a high-profile player / manager coming in, but I'd be interested to hear if it really WAS that well-received at the time from all corners. |

If it IS to be Muscat, at least get Rory Fallon in as his assistant. Be a laugh watching the dugout for the Australian / New Zealand rivalry, if nothing else. |
| Forum Reply | Luke Cundle has developed beyond any expectation at Swansea City at 19:16 27 Apr 2023
I was very impressed with Cundle on Saturday and in all fairness, also whenever I've watched him on TV this season. Not afraid to pass AND move, including in a forward direction. All terribly exciting. Then again, I always used to rate Gwion Edwards for all the good that did for his 1st team chances. Bloody opinions, eh? |
| Forum Reply | Norwich City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 2022/23 PUB GUIDE INC at 19:09 21 Apr 2023
Long-since closed, as have most pubs and nightclubs round there, like Rick's Place. Now a mortgage advice bureau. Even the Erpingham House vegan restaurant, which Russell Martin has an interest in, is closed at the moment due to energy costs etc. Sorry for derailing the matchday thread into a tripadvisor nostalgia rant! |
