William speculation unhelpful says Coleman

I will say I think SSFC have an absolutely gem in the PR department having ready LW comments at his press conference today.

Not good enough for me. He has some serious making up to do including beating the scum, getting us into the playoffs, promoted, then sticking two fingers up at Man City before I will even entertain forgiving him. Stranger things have happened but for me his days are gone.

If he was oblivious to the rumours he certainly didn't took surprised when asked the question and interview.

If he was, "go speak to o my agent" shouldn't have been. the response.

"I know nothing about this and have no interest" should have been.

Unbelievable! Thought this would go with the Darts but Littler is smashing it. Good set there from MVG.

When Littler is old enough to have an ale or two and finds women it'll all go Pete Ting like my rugby career

I don't disagree with you Keith. I've stated in another thread that it's all to do with timing. Maybe this week/month mid or end of the season. But I certainly don't expect him to be taking pre season in July.

He would have to pull off the impossible to win the fans back around, and I just don't think he's capable.

Has Luke come out as said so much to the fans?

He's still odds on with the bookies and they rarely get it wrong. I think this deal will still get done next week. Get the tie between the two clubs out of the way so it's not a distraction first then resolve the managerial transfer.

Baggies potentially sitting tight to see if they can pick him up on a free if sacked.

If they made him their top target, 1 poor game/performance is not going to put them off. Especially when he could offer mitigating circumstances such as 'players caught wind he may be moving just before KO'

"There no loyalty in football any more, that’s if there ever was."

He rubs me up the wrong way but Jamie Vardy proves there are still individuals who can show loyalty. Yes it's rare, but it still exists and even more so in the lower leagues.

I have absolutely no issues with any player/coach/manager leaving having fulfilled the expiry of their contract (I.e. as it appears Darling will do this summer). Both parties (club and player) have fulfilled their end of the agreement.

What I very much dislike is when personnel try to manufacture a move away mid-contract because they think the grass is greener on the other side. If you're doing a good job, and someone has interest in you, let them speak to the club first... Agree a fee or financial compensation in principle before allowing interested party to speak to contracted employee. Don't disrespect the fans and cause unrest in the changing room by leaving an open door for clubs to "speak to my agent". Show some self respect and say, "I'm fully committed to Swansea" then if the correct process is followed write a goodbye letter to the fans apologising but explaining the offer was too good to turn down. We'll accept that, it's the nature of the game, but telling potential suitors "I'm open to offers" in post match interviews is not acceptable.

That was Keith's personal opinion. X account is Swansea Independent - never confuse the two!

Yep, just depends whether we get 1.8m for the privilege to get rid of him or whether it will actually cost us. Hopefully not the latter.

Done deal apparently.

Just seen coming out of Swansea's premier Fish and Chips shop with a battered jumbo and a chip butty with curry sauce.

More chance of Pep coming.

As for "fans" wanting him back... Are these 12 year olds?

Swansea City : Does Luke know what he is doing to our club ?
at 13:29 2 Jan 2025

Thank you Keith. I can't see LW recovering from this. He's lost the faith and trust of a large section of the supporters, and as you've stated some in the boardroom (which I have no reason to doubt given your excellent track record of factual reporting). I hoped/wanted Williams to be successful, but for me it's a case of when rather than if. Today? This week/month? Later in the season (once safety is confirmed) or end of season. Whenever it is, I can't see him taking us u to the 25/26 season.

Which is why knowing the character of the individual is important. But if you're having contract talks 2 years out from the expiry, if the club aren't liking what they're hearing from the player or his representatives, it gives you up to 4 windows to move the player on and maximise the fee.

Now, all we potentially have left is 4.5 months out of a decent player who will walk for a free and we will have nothing to come in to re-incest back into the squad. Poor management by the SCFC hierarchy.

If WBA are still interested in him they must be licking their lips at the thought they could potentially pick him up on a freebie without compensation if he's sacked shortly. Unless of course there's a period of gardening leave in his severance package.

I agree. My backside may still be on the post but both my legs are dangling on the "get him out of the club" side of the fence.

Unfortunately, the ball lies in his court. Even if a club does come in with the offer, doesn't mean he'll want to move there. He'll have a pick of clubs and a healthy signing on bonus come June. Even if we cut our nose off to spite our face and not play him, 4.5 months of no Football is not going to put off interested suitors.

We left the hardball impact a little too late to be effective unfortunately.

For me, if you have a member of the squad you value, appreciate and want to retain, you should be looking at extensions from 2 years out from their expiry. Not letting it run down to the last 12 months.

A lot of criticism towards Williams in this thread (rightly so I'm my opinion) but the players on the pitch have to take accountability too. 9 of those starting today were the same team that absolutely who smashed QPR and in the most dominated Luton comprehensively.

Unless Williams has given them different tactical instructions today they need to take accountability to allow their performances to drop to such dire levels. I've said on a number of different posts we look a shadow of the team without Franco. Today just goes to show just how weak our mentality is as a squad if they can't perform as a team with 1 player missing.

There's the notion that "they're not playing for the manager". Well if your telling me they deliberately let their levels drop to oust the manager then I don't want those players at my club. Regardless of the manager, giving 100% for the shirt (and your employer) is a non-negotiable fo me regardless of who the manager is. A lot of fans made the long trip to the south coast over the New Year Bank holiday and we're served up that rubbish - they should apologise.

As for Williams, I'm not his biggest fan, but also not necessarily calling for his head. There are some positives, we're mid-table when many posters on here expected us to be in a relegation battle this year. We're not. Cullen has found a new position and has improved somewhat this season.

Williams is still fairly young and inexperienced as a manager himself, and is learning his trade. That said, I think some of his selection and in match tactical decisions (mainly substitutions) are questionable, and he doesn't appear to be learning very quicky. Also his lack of direct committment to the media that he's not interested in WBA job has caused even more doubt in my mind. His general handling of the media has been pretty poor in my opinion.

I wouldn't shed a tear if he left tomorrow, yet I'm not concerned (this season) if he sticks around. Him leaving now would give another manager more time to assess his squad, and get their ideas across in readiness for next year, and whilst we're not completely safe, we should have enough in the locker to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle regardless of the manager.

As stated above though, today for me was more about the players, their mental strength and attitude and not necessarily down to the manager. Williams should be able to drop all 11 players and replace the entire team as a kick up the backside, sadly... We just don't have the strength in depth to be able to do that.
