Absolutely brilliant display best team effort for years. Mcarthy Ings Stephens Walker Peters Bednarek all exceptional . I must say Walker Peters needs to start all the remaining games to see if he can keep up that level of performance. So pleased for Che Adams off the mark . Saints are safe for another season and the manager has signed a new contract much to look forward to going forward COYS |
| News Comment | Saints At Newcastle United The Verdict at 11:51:31
Having watched nearly all the games this season it was obvious that the way we playing was not creating goals .Sadly the tactics have not changed with expensive strikers not being provided with the service they need . Yesterday was yet another absolutely dismal performance where the opposition goalkeeper was only tested once with 60 odd per cent off possession. Players had no creativity and no real desire because the tactics are not working and they know it. In a game that we had to win we should have set up to attack that is when we play our best football. Sadly too many players had a shocker Lemina Hoedt come to mind. I dont remember Carillo getting a shot on goal, this against a fellow relegation team . The manager has to tak the blame he has not risen to the task. He wont do any better in the Championship where you have to consistently score goals so time for a change probably too late but at least the new man will have a good run in in preparation for championship football . It is astonishing the board have kept faith with Pellegrino for so long when it has been staring the rest of us in the face. |
| News Comment | Saints At Tottenham Hotspur The Preview at 08:51:30
Yes long past time to man up and act as a coordinated team. We have to accept the fact that we are disorganised, lacking creativity and are very likely to be in the relegation zone come the New Year. The players and Manager have not jelled there are obvious frustrations at all levels . 2 successive succesful Managers have not been able to get this team scoring goals and until that changes we are looking at the precipice. |

Lack of desire lack of creativity and no focus in attack. I watched Stoke v Man U afterwards what a display by Stoke the whole team not giving up working hard for each other yes that was how Saints used to play and if we lost well it was not through lack of effort. Gabbiadini never had a chance because he never had a decent ball ,a lone striker at home? . We resorted to a hopeful long ball game until long and austin came on . A better second half but with poor positioning from Forster who it seems is very slow to get down and come of his line is it confidence ? The whole team needs to pass better, make space better ,shoot better and pick up the pace. The worst display this year and getting worse . |
| News Comment | Saints At Huddersfield Town The Verdict at 16:44:41
A better second half than the first where we were slow and unable to keep the ball ,and therefore under pressure most of time. Nevertheless we defended well and weathered the storm. Redmond should have scored but missed . Gabbiadini makes good space but noone can find him . Mostly our attacks fizzled out because of poor passing or lack of vision final pass . Creativity is minimal and especially , desire levels seem to be at a low . Some players underperformed especially Cedric who is much better than he shown recently. I would like to see another winger with speed something anything to create the space for a goalscorer. |
| News Comment | Saints V Swansea City The Verdict at 17:28:20
In my opinion the lack of goals is caused because we dont have an attacking focus . someone who can have hold the ball up and distribute it wisely in the opponents half . In the recent past we had SRL AND Pelle but this team has noone of that character or ability. The strikers seem unsure of where they need to be and quality chances are few , There is enough talent to create those opportunities but I feel with a tall strong CF the goals would flow not just fom him but he would act as a catalyst for the other strikers. |
| News Comment | More Info Emerges On New Bidder For Saints at 19:32:56
Should the reports be true this potential investor would be the very worst thing to happen to Saints fc and I sincerely hope it fails. Basically the club would be taken over by a crook a far cry from the Leibherr family . I hope it fails !!! |
| News Comment | Austin Out For Middlesbrough Game at 16:38:57
I have watched all the games this year and whilst we are mostly playing neat football there has been a gradual increasing tendency to sit deep. The opportunities to score have started to dry up and we are not taking the chances that we do make. Too many times we have dominated possession to lose games to opponents who score from their only chance . We are not frightening the opposition who are quite happy for us to impotently pass the ball around. More worryingly recently is the deterioration in the quality of passing and the wasting of possession when in a good position. Unless we find a forward who can hold the ball up and take the chances provided we will struggle. SRL & PELE were superb doing this and we are missing someone of that calibre this season. imo we need to go shopping in the new year or it will turn into a difficult season . |
| News Comment | Saints To Take Time Over Next Managerial Appointment at 10:10:48
I have listened again to RKs comments about staying at SAINTS next year after the last game of the season and whilst he said he liked the club the fans and the players and that he wished to stay, he said that although his and the clubs ambition were the same the ability to achieve that would depend on money. This was why MC left because Spurs offered him the money to invest in players which SAINTS were not prepared to do. RK has obviously decided that Everton are prepared to invest more than SAINTS to achieve their goals together with a bumper pay packet. Regrettably in the short term Saints do not seem willing to commit as the business model doesnt allow for it. Obviously I would rather we stayed in the premiership and not go bust again but it does mean that it is highly unlikely that we will ever reach the champions league because we will repeatedly see our managers and our best players leave for the richer clubs . Having said that we are in Europe for the second season running , we remain a very attractive stepping stone and we should be able to secure a top manager to continue our progress. I Am very sad that RK is apparently leaving but equally I thought NA was harshly treated by us when he was sacked so I suppose what goes around comes around. |
| News Comment | Every Man Has His Price ! at 12:10:28
A very well written article at this moment in time. It is true every man does have his price in football ,it was just that we thought RK was a man of his word, that makes it worse than when MC departed. I find it hard to believe that the situation can change so dramatically from that stated at the end of the season.I am stil desperately hoping that Saints can persuade RK to stay because I liked the football and the man . It is so sad that as a club we cannot seem to achieve a sustained period of continuity under one manager and i hope that this episode will not result in another exodus of similarly dissatisfied players as in previous years.Even so I have confidence that we will eventually appoint a quality manager. I am sure all saints fans are waiting with baited breath and having sleepless nights ,however a message from saints fc would be appropriate at this juncture to confirm whether they have been approached by EVERTON or not. |
