Agreed.

I'm also cautious about Nourry. There's a danger that we cannonise him just because we want or need change. I remember us beatifying Briatore and his crew as well.

Paul Hall leaving leaves me with the same feeling as Kenneth Paal leaving: let's see how we fare hiring better before we celebrate.

Agreed, Hubble. Pure hyperbole.

I think that what impressed me was that he judged the save so well after it bounced. He still had work to do to get to it as well, and to deflect it to safety. Many keepers wouldn't have achieved the last bit.

I've heard it called one of the greatest saves ever, which is stretching it, but I still thought that it was a great save.

Also a pet hate of mine, Fred.

Agree, though, this is a really great save.

I'm also cautious. History surely tells us we should be.

He doesn't even have gloves.

I think it will surely need at least on full-time coach for the first-team goalies, Simmo, and can't see how Sparkes could do that and also oversee the other teams.

Either way, his CV is definitely good, as you say. Happy with this.

Some top-notch Nourry-speak there!

It's unclear from that as to whether he'll be coaching the first-team keepers or whether they still need someone for that role as well.

Interesting.

I wonder if it's linked to our expected change in goalkeeping style.

England v Switzerland Quarter Final match thread
at 09:23 1 Jul 2024

Rice is the biggest problem that I can see.

I haven't seen much of him as I rarely watch the First Division games, so I'm only basing it on his form in this tournament.

In any of the games so far, he hasn't played like a quality 6. He hasn't wanted the ball in pivot positions off his defenders or goalie, hasn't taken it on the half-turn, has shown a poor range of passing, rarely played forward, and has often even shown poor technique. He just points. I hate pointers.

He had two awful moments tonight. One at 90+4 (approx) when he could have recycled the ball but just panicked and half-hooked it into the box and lost possession and one at 118 (approx) where he panicked and half-hacked a crap clearance to a Slovakia player to send back into the England box. he laso got robbed on the halfway line.

He just slows everything down. He's not brave and whatever else he is, he doesn't look like a 6 to me.

I think that England have been better, midfield looks less cautious. True, Slovakia have had chances and scored off one of them but that's the price to be paid. More possession, mire shots, more pace.

If England keep playing like this and maybe add a bit more from the bench then I think they'll go through.

He did also change to three at the back, to be fair.

Great info, thanks Bannerman.

I've no doubt that my friend is right that there are many, many people who won't vote for her because of her colour and/or gender, but ya I'm sure there are many, many other factors as well.

I'm out of touch. I ususally am fairly up to date with U.S. politics but have been uninspired these last few years and have lost touch. Thanks for the info.

A new love affair with a new piece of music.

It's only noise, almost formulaic, so how is it that I can be floored so often by so many different tunes?

I hope it never changes.

Well, that's two possibilities. An Irish friend in America also believes that a black woman simply wouldn't get enough votes.
