Two games in with a new foreign midfielder recruit, who arrived late into the box to equalise. Also, played the final ball to Paal in the final third, for that wonderful ball to Frey!

What sort of black magic has this Madsen chap bought to our shores?

He’s clearly a very good technician and will need time but for God’s sake give him a fecking break.

Classic R’s - looking ok - give away a pathetic goal and now the wheels are coming off. How many times have we seen a performance like this?

Really difficult to see how you improve LR as a facility, that is not losing £M's a year as a piece of real-estate. The on-going maintenance costs must be huge!
From a purely business perspective the only option is to sell the land for re-development (prime residential) and re-invest that in a new ground.
I retired from the corporate RE investment world two years ago and LR is a "lame duck" as a sporting opportunity. I'm sure Ruben knows that.

Dykes sold apparently

For a player that played over 160 games for u, I cannot recall him ever tearing up any tress, being consistent or actually proofing that he’s a solid Championship player. If it is a fee of circa £1-1.5M we’ve had their pants down and it’s a job well done.
Never a Championship player and will maybe be ok in L1 - although I doubt it. No loss for us.

Hi Paul -we don’t know each other but I thought I would offer my support and recent cancer experience.
In short, I was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer in September 2022. I had no symptoms, so you can imagine the shock! I was a very fit 60yr old, still working, never smoked, but liked a few lagers and a nice glass of wine.
After all the scans etc my diagnosis changed to a more serious position. I had robotic surgery to remove my tumour and after further histology my diagnosis improved. Thankfully, I didn’t need chemotherapy am now in the 5yr surveillance program which is absolutely fantastic.
The treatments available today are incredible and in some cases are curative. My main advice is to trust your medical team and do as your told (not something we are good at later in life). Do not google anything-it’s all out of date and bollocks. If you want to reach to people going through a similar journey-join the MacMillan forum. It’s trusted and has nurses and professionals who can help you. You can learn a lot about your diagnosis.
Stay close to your family if they are nearby - they will be more worried than you. I’m now two years cancer free, retired and enjoying life.
Stay positive, trust your medical team and do not google. Most importantly take care of your mental wellbeing. It’s the most important part of personal recovery.
Best wishes on your journey and keep us posted.

Transfer rumours 2024
at 17:13 21 Aug 2024

Let’s not forget that whilst this transfer stuff is on-going Ruben is till covering circa £2M of operational losses per month - primarily on the stadium.
That is not sustainable, but has been part of the landscape for sometime. I hope the new management are tackling that issue as that level of loss cannot continue.

Do you think Marti wants him?

Given how he improved the existing squad when he arrived, I'm thinking it is not beyond him to make improvements to players we already have. Should we patient?

This is the new defence posture for all the fecking idiots getting hauled before the courts at the moment. They all suffer from ADHD, poor mental health, lack of intelligence, self awareness, self control etc.
It's all suddenly being discovered after they have been lobbing concrete blocks at the Police, setting fire to hotels with people inside, injuring Police dogs, arson, criminal damage, calling for riots on-line, promoting race hate on-line etc.
The amount of young children now getting actively involved in all of the above, is fecking frightening. We need a serious re-set in this country.

The government need to be bold and ban illegal gatherings of more than 50 people for the next 100 days.
That fecking cocaine mob last night, as well as the mob in Leeds last week, are going to lynch someone - and that will be an innocent individual or a Policeman.
Bring the military Police in to undertake some civic duties and get huge numbers of Police on the streets and give them the powers to sort these c**nts out.
You want to have a sword fight in Southend then be prepared to get sorted. You want to riot in violation of a banning order, then be prepared to get your head cracked open.

In her latter years due to onset of dementia my family moved my Mum into a care home. It was a wonderful environment with a mix of clients that had their care paid for by the local authority and some paid for privately.
What struck me was that every person in the care home received their WFA irrespective of the fact they were being cared for in a warm and caring environment.
I could see no valid reason why that benefit was being paid in those circumstances. At some point we have to have a grown up discussion on benefits and who qualifies. For me work should always pay and we should be tougher in that respect. But does a family of two with a joint income over £100K really need child benefit?

I’m 62 and from the moment I became politically aware the Tories have made my life miserable. I was raised in West London-North Kensington and the place was a fecking slum. No investment and all overseen by a Tory Council in the 70’s.
The SPG terrorised the locals and it was no surprise when the carnival erupted in 1975.
Along comes Thatcher and her henchmen and they proceeded to crush almost every working class area in the country. We all know what Thatcher had sown for decades to come. Then comes along the nasty party who made it abundantly clear they despised many of the professions from the NHS to Education.
Then came austerity! And finally the clown show started by Boris.
It’s no surprise that the Tories hate public servants with a passion. Over a period of 40yrs their stewardship of our country has been criminal.

Spotting of talent at a very young age

I’ll wager, that every one of those listed, there were better technical players who didn’t make it. A lot is not based on football ability, but on a coaches preference as they may take to a boy and his family who have the right attitude etc.
I now watch a lot of non-league football. Right now the academies have dumped a huge amount of boys onto the scrap heap. Some want to play and will drift into different leagues and clubs from national league to step 5/6. Those boys generally have a great attitude and want to keep playing.
A lot turn up and because they been pampered on brilliant pitches and facilities they don’t have the bollocks to drop down and drift off into oblivion.
It’s a grinder, but fair play to the non-league pyramid who are a brilliant resource for some of these lads.

Adrian Durham / Talksport - A good summary
at 09:42 15 Jul 2024

He’s spot-on.

I’ve been watching England since 1970, so I think I can measure past England teams. The current squad is light years ahead of what came before. We equalised, got on the front foot for 5 minutes and then retreated 50 metres. He did exactly the same thing vs Italy at Wembley and invited them onto us.

He’s so limited as a manager- unlike his team. Of all the losses, last night was fecking criminal. With that squad, man-for-man, Spain are not better than us. He was completely out-coached at 1-1. The Spanish manager took a risk and decided to attack at 1-1 and Southgate obliged and let’s be honest the winner was coming.

England always let you down, but last night was on Southgate. Give Klopp what he wants to take us to USA 2026.

Starmer would have learnt from Blair’s first-term in office. His biggest regret was that he didn’t go for major reform in his first year as the government machine slowed him down.
Sue Gray was a very smart appointment as his Chief of Staff - she knows how the machine works. Given his background Starmer apparently has a laser-like focus on detail and delivery. He wouldn’t have just arrived yesterday without a detailed plan on how his first-year is going to pan out.
I expect to see major announcements on infrastructure investment, partnerships with business and a wholesale clean up of the NHS, education, law and order as well as defence.
I think he will be ruthless in his mission.

As a life-long Labour voter, I have voted tactically today (LD) to keep the Tories out in the Amersham and Chesham constituency. The poor Tory observer at our polling station received dogs-abuse from voters and I class this as middle - England.
Hopefully Labour get that sizeable majority and start to try and fix some stuff reasonably quickly. Starmer needs to get off the blocks quickly to douse the Tory inquest/revival (hopefully they get destroyed and dampen Reform from making the next 5yrs about populism.
Labour need to set the dogs on Farage and Tice and their band of fruitcakes.

If they could do a deal with the freeholders that would be a great footprint. Play at LR whilst the site is being developed. I would of thought other developers also have their eyes on it - particularly given the return on residential development in the area.

Heading To Gelsenkirchen Next Weekend- Eng v Serbia.
at 09:44 8 Jun 2024

Managed to get four tickets to see England. My first trip abroad to see them since Eng v Italy in 1980 in Torino - we lost 1-0.
We are flying to Amsterdam and then driving to Gelsenkirchen. I’ve pretty much driven across most of the world but not across Germany. Anyone done a similar trip and are there tolls etc across Germany?
Any advice welcome.

In fact you have to go back to Thatcher if you want to understand where the "I don't give a feck about anyone but me" attitude emanated from. Right now - something has to be done to control these idiots.
Thank God the summer has not been warm because all the ingredients are there for our cities to go up in flames.

It's a difficult watch. Society has changed beyond recognition and it's especially visible in large cities.
There just seems to be a big lawless group, who take these events as an excuse to do what they want. Alcohol and large amounts of cocaine, help them on their way and it's a feck-all attitude that prevails and spreads. Eventually, people are going to be killed - it's only a matter of time.
I am really not an individual that supports restrictions on society, but on this particular type of behaviour we need to be confronting these idiots, with some serious heavy policing.
I can remember the feared Met Police SPG back in the 70's who were seriously out of control in dealing with disorder. - I would not support their re-introduction.
We need to introduce a new riot/control unit, made up of some experienced and well-trained officers from across the UK. I would advocate a number of 2,000 officers who would be well-drilled, disciplined and heavy-handed in dealing with these type of incidents.
Make these idiots/scumbags understand that if you want to gate-crash these huge events, you will be met with a heavy-hand and not an £8ph security guard, who are the people more likely to be injured in these incidents.

Life changing moments
at 11:42 1 Jun 2024

Being unexpectedly diagnosed in 2022 with stage 3 bowel cancer at 60. That stopped me “dead in my tracks”!
Trying to manage my emotions and constant doubts about my mortality certainly was a challenge. My family and I owe an amazing surgeon and his team my life. Almost two years on I remain cancer free but am subject to six-monthly follow ups until 2027.
I’ve also made a number of lifestyle changes around alcohol and diet. I enjoy life and have more I want to do.
