| News Comment | Sam Edozie Set For A Move To Belgium at 18:31:58
He has the ability to make it at the top but needs to work on his end product. Another where I hope, if he goes permanently, there is a sell on clause thereafter! |
| News Comment | Stuart Armstrong Set For Move To New Club at 17:21:27
Stuey seemed to struggle to play two games in a row in the Championship, so would have been an expensive (wages) part timer in the PL. Still probably cheaper per game than the ghost from Sunderland! Good luck to him, positive all the time and with the ability to enable that positivity, sadly missing at present! |
| News Comment | Sulemana Tipped For Loan Move To The Netherlands at 22:23:47
Another player who has massive potential that is harnessed by our style of play. Hopefully for his sake he will flourish if given the chance to play regularly and as an out & out winger. Rather hope we have a sell on clause! |
| News Comment | Southampton At Brentford The Damning Verdict at 13:02:58
Most of it's been said but we seem to have forgotten we have Edwards a very good ball playing CB, ABK was poor positionally when we were relegated! One of the reasons we cock up is that all the managers know exactly how we are going to play and press high, forcing the mistakes. We need at least 4 passes to beat a press and we rarely get past 3 (and I don't meant backwards) this is because we have pulled the midfield back to create an extra man and there is no one to receive pass 4! The long ball isn't on because we have no out & out CF, both strikers being asked to attack from wide positions. So the whole set up needs to change! Also Aribo has been a winger, prior to arriving here & is too one footed to play in midfield, push him forward if you must play him. We have some good offensive players that are being forced into playing styles alien to them, which means we are not seeing the best of them? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Cardiff The Carabao Cup Verdict at 16:50:39
Strange I thought Edwards looked comfortable and confident on the ball and made some good choices & with the ball at his feet only lost possession once? We were a bit more positive in our passing decisions and agree Fernades looks good. Great to see Bree get a goal, I like him, he is a good honest defender and I don't think he would let us down should he be picked. Tyler is a youngster who will need time to build & learn to pace himself better. And totally agree with halftime orange Colwill looked impressive all game! |
| News Comment | Transfer To Southampton To Be Announced On Tuesday at 18:17:45
This appears to be another gamble on a promising player that we may be able to build up and sell on. Based on pre-season and Saturday we need a forward thinking midfielder, starting the game. We definitely improved with the introduction of Dibling and particularly Alcaraz. Unfortunately we are top heavy with promising foreign signings, that haven't lived up to promise and represent a massive loss. If he is coming to replace a current player lets hope it is Aribo who, although he works hard is so one footed it's embarrassing. Many won't agree but we have some promising youngsters of our own and really don't need any more midfielders unless we unload some, but who goes? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Newcastle United The Verdict at 14:25:11
No real moan apart from what we all know but RM needs to tell the guys that occasionally it's ok to shoot from outside the box. We had many chances to have a dig, as there was no pass on but every time went backwards 😞😞 |
| News Comment | Southampton About To Break The Bank For Greek Forward at 09:20:29
Totally agree andywelsh, Saturday showed our lack of creativity going forward. When we did manage to break the press both our strikers were out wide and there was no one breaking forward from midfield. Charly can probably bridge that gap but it seems, from the media, that we would be happy to see him go? And we stand the chance of another Onuachu Or Sulemana situation where we spent big for little or no return! We will happily spend biggish on untried young players from overseas but put very little trust in our own. The very players who were being heralded as our future for the last two forums? |
| News Comment | Southampton Hold Talks with Goalkeeper at 09:15:22
you say Lumley is untried at PL level but for some reason he didn't get a look in for the pre-season friendlies? He must be terrible in training!? Someone like Ramsdale can organise our defence and save us maybe 10 points over a season, if not him then we need to move on and sort another quickly! |
| News Comment | Southampton Goalkeeper Loan Deal Agreed at 08:40:55
If Wednesday didn't prove we need a different keeper, if RM wants to continue his play from the back policy, then nothing ever will! |
| News Comment | Brighton Midfielder To Decide Between Southampton And Feyenoord at 15:03:41
Feels like a better signing than some of the youngsters we have been linked with. He has experience of PL football which is a bonus in itself. Dibling is seriously challenging for a start on his pre season form, as is Amo-Ameyaw. So lets get the loan done and look at Ramsdale or someone similar between the sticks! |
| News Comment | Newcastle Playing Hardball With Southampton Over Ryan Fraser at 17:07:52
It would seem that Fraser wants his contract paid up to make up for the wages he will lose by signing for us. He is a big earner and Newcastle were subsidising his loan to us. I believe it's Fraser that's holding this deal up! |
| News Comment | Southampton Receive Formal Transfer Request In Writing From Player at 16:13:37
We could always loan him to Goztepe? It seems to me that Trabsonzpor want him for next to nothing, lets call their bluff and say £10 million (or there about) or he stays with us and gets loaned out. I appreciate that its not his fault that Nathan Jones didn't last or that he doesn't fit Russels style but we can't afford to just give him away! |
