How was it a good signing on paper? Have you even researched his career? |

Speculative subjective incoherent waffle. You yourself stated above that NO ONE knows the state of Taylor's mental health. As a result, continuing with that angle is pointless. As for contracts, football works slightly differently to other industries. Plenty of clubs have paid good money for players who haven't delivered. You can't just rip up a player's contract because he isn't playing. As for "moving on", you bury your head in the sand if you wish but you don't speak for all. As I said to The Chef, next time you're wondering why the squad is a little thin and Marti is having to cope by fielding square pegs in round holes, just remember that the outlay on wasters like Taylor prevents the club from bringing in much needed reinforcements. I'd agree if it were just a loan but not a loan with a commitment to buy permanently in the future before Taylor has even kicked a ball. Richards spent time out on loan at Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City (where he was injured during the medical). It didn't work out at either club so he returned to his parent club, Brighton. Why QPR then decided to offer Brighton a season-long loan with a commitment to buy permanently is beyond me. An extremely daft decision. As for "moving on", that's easy for you to say because you're not spending your money. As Marti struggles with injuries in key areas and fields players out of position to cope, just bear in mind that the outlay on Taylor prevents the club from bringing in much needed reinforcements. |

"Does anyone have an idea of the state of his mental health?" Exactly. Which is why it's a moot point. "In which case how can you call it either way?" As we've established that no one knows that state of Taylor's mental health, the discussion re-focuses on what he's done in his footballing career. To date, the square root of nada. This kid even got injured during a medical at Birmingham City. Why on earth QPR agreed to a permanent deal is beyond me. |

You can't have it both ways. If you "know nothing about him personally" then you have no idea on the state of his mental health. Personally I think it's a smokescreen designed to fool gullible folk like yourself into feeling sorry for a lad that has consistently shown at successive clubs that he's a waster. Until he pulls his socks up, gets fit, and contributes on the pitch, he deserves the criticism. [Post edited 31 Dec 2024 15:29]

Rooney underperformed at Derby. Notwithstanding the points deduction their form was bottom half of the league with a squad that was expected to challenge for the play-offs. However, I do agree that Rooney deserves some credit for having the courage to keep trying his hand at management when it would be far easier to coast along in punditry. Many of the top pundits either wouldn't dare or have tried once and failed miserably (e.g. Gary Neville, Shearer, Merson). |

Mick - You're right about one thing. That isn't the point. If I had the talent to match my attitude then I'd be on that list. But I'm not and neither is AT. |

You still haven't grasped that the thread is not about mere talent. It's not your rodeo, stick to the original criteria. That way you won't continue to embarrass yourself with ludicrous suggestions like Charlie Nicholas. |

I could name plenty but I won't waste my time because natural talent isn't the criteria. The OP said: "Mr Salah is without doubt one of the best players you'll see in your lifetime, certainly top 6 I'd have thought." So the criteria is top 6 players you've seen in your lifetime. You don't get to change the criteria to suit your argument. |
| Forum Reply | Salah, as good as it gets at 16:07 30 Dec 2024
Indeed. Football is a team game and the top players consistently apply themselves at the top level, both individually and collectively. Whilst he's not in my top 6, Salah has certainly done that, and sustained it over a long period of time. Taraabt has not. A few flicks, tricks and nutmegs in the championship for 1 season doesn't make you one of the greatest football players to have ever played the game. |
| Forum Reply | Salah, as good as it gets at 15:57 30 Dec 2024
If your criteria is players who you've seen in the flesh then I'd understand your vote for Taraabt. However, the OP didn't say that so it's safe to assume that the criteria is top 6 players you've seen in your lifetime, whether you watched it in person or on TV. On that basis, neither Salah nor Kane come close (unless you're 8-years-old) and Taraabt doesn't enter the conversation. As for Charlie Nicholas, come on now... [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 16:18]

Controversial perhaps but I really don't get Horror movies in general. They don't scare me, never have. |

Very brave decision to reject the chemotherapy and live his best life for whatever time he has remaining. Heart goes out to Ludo and his family. |

Excellent football player? Yes. Top 6 in our lifetime? If you're 8-years-old, perhaps. [Post edited 29 Dec 2024 20:47]

Sorry, I don't buy it. You don't even think about starting a thread like this until after the final whistle. This is QPR we're talking about here. Even when we were 3 nil up in the reverse fixture I was screaming at the ref to blow the fkg whistle! [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 2:01]
