Great day.
The team bus waiting at the nick for Willy to be released.
Apparently Willy said "Back off" to the copper and was misconstrued as saying something else

I have it on good authority the steward who started it all regretted it immediately. Man after my own heart.

Drove there only realising 10 miles outside Bury that we'd forgotten our tickets so had to turn round and fly back to Blackpool to pick them up God knows how we got back in time to see Forbes's goal, happy days.

What a weekend that was

Travelled up in a self drive mini bus and stayed for two nights at Bredbury Hall in Stockport

Had a few pints before the game. When we scored I decided to run onto the pitch to celebrate. Within three yards of getting onto the pitch I was grabbed from behind in a bear hug with a steward shouting at me “ you’re going out “!

Luckily for me ten yards to my left ( we were on halfway ) another Swans fan had been wrestled to the ground by a steward. My steward 😃 decided to let me go to help his colleague allowing me to run back into the terrace.

Back onto the pitch at the end with thousands of others to see the Police arrest Gueret for refusing to get off the roof of the dug out.

Back to hotel. Later spoke to Graham Barrow there who I think was Bury manager that day. He seemed to know Martinez although don’t know what the connection was. A fab few days. ⚽️🍺🦢

Adrian Forbes also got the last league goal at the Vetch the week before against Shrewsbury of course who had a very young Joe Hart in goal. They were great days weren’t they.

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

There seemed to be purpose especially after Jacket left, he was the manager on that day though. We were chasing everything with ambition. These days that mindset is simply not there.

We went up in a hired minibus as a group and stayed in Blackpool ( bank holiday weekend ), for the 3 days never was so much consumed by so few .For the match it seemed that all of Swansea was there that day I think we cheesed off the locals because Burys ST holders had to move from their seats to accommodate the hoards which filled 3 sides of the ground , a hot day ,repeated pitch invasions , toilets overflowing and drunk as a skunk , all for one goal & great blurred memories .

That was a brilliant day. Drove up with the Mrs and my 2 sons. Felt like we'd taken over the place. Remember being on the pitch at the end of the match, Mrs on my shoulders as willy was getting carted off!
My mate had climbed into the stand and had managed to get close to where the players were. When it kicked off with the law and willy my mate was standing by Kevin Austin. Big Kev went wading in to try and help, leaving his boots with my mate.
The next day back home in the pub my mate was in possession of a pair of puma kings, slightly worn for sale. Only a size 8 though which surprised me. Great times.

One of my favourite trips , mini bus from morriston full of slightly excitable fans , remember a car full of toffies abusing us flying past only to end up next to us stuck in traffic the pee and fag bucket found it’s way over their car 🤣 amazing seeing the ground full of fellow swans fans , I had to pull the two stewards off a fellow morriston boy allowing him to escape back in to the pitch length stand and for me to get chased and end up behind the goals , Fun day no drama to be had wasnt that type of day part atmosphere, well we all know what happened in the ground but it went a bit silly outside after when a police officer in charge of a dog let the dog for absolutely nothing attack a kid of about 12 years old who was just walking past with his dad 🤦‍♂️ spoiled the party vibe as you can imagine

Offered to take a Wirral based Bury fan to the game
Pleasant trip up, not so the return but I was rather hobby and vainglorious
Spent day with SEALS in the form of Paul Holt , terribly missed, and his marvellous sons
Some of the day was a bit of a blur but it was certainly one to remember
Thanks Keith

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

They had never seen so many fans before, very confusing the for the local flat capped.

I was there, stayed in Bradford the night before then drove there.

I can see Tenko in behind big Willy.

It was a great day out.

A great weekend. Drove up with 3 mates on the morning of the game. Stayed at what was then The Reebok.
Went on the pitch after the game and thought what the hell was happening with WG. Then into Yates in the town centre when GMP were trying their hardest to start a riot. We cleared off before the inevitable happened.
On the Sunday morning we went down for breakfast. London Broncos were playing at the stadium later that day. Waitress asked “are you with the Broncos?”. Yes we replied before being ushered to the most fantastic breakfast buffet.
When the players started arriving and found us tucking into their grub they were luckily amused, especially after we told them why we were there!

Yeah I remember coming out after the game to nearest pub where our mini bus was parked by now with about another 10 mini buses all stacked up in the car park and the police with riot helmets on surrounding them waiting for us and us just laughing at them, they looked very agitated I think somebody had pushed the panic button early doors.

Fairply to Swansea fans that day everyone was just chuffed that we were promoted out of the doldrums.

On the way home our mini bus was absolutely minging we had a good clean out at Cardiff gate services 👍🏾

What about the Samba band that was going around the stands ?
Mad as there was next to zero crowd control.

Trunds stopped an early pitch invasion.

Dull policing to arrest Big Willy at that moment.

GMP riot police arrived late as the had prioritised the Prem games in the area and failed to appreciate that half of Swansea would be there ….

Unforgettable brilliant day out … 🫡

Exactly this, spot on and maybe one of the last certain kind of British football games before modern football really took hold.

We've had a few special days since then on the road but I stand by my statement
