A side without Grandad Rooney in charge.

To me this game screams banana skin, but I think we will play well and I believe with 2000 Rs in attendance could actually be a memorable performance.

A three nil win away from home.

Frey, Field and Chair on target for the rampant superhoops !!!

According to the stats they've won 58% of aerial duals and we've won 44%

Shit but local

We’ve been the better team but a frustrating performance. Plymouth are definitely there for the taking. Kolli for Frey after an hour and I’d fancy him to get on the score sheet.

Illy is really slowing our breaks down.

He’s had a terrible first half: seems off the pace and as you say he’s slowing everything down.
Morgan and Smyth playing well though.

Odd game, although I always hate watching us on the telly - seems to have all the intensity of a pre-season friendly? Should have scored.

Not sure if it is the 12.30 kick off.. but the game, the crowd all just seem to be going through the motions

We have totally dominated that half but don't seem to have got out of 3rd gear.... hopefully they will tiresome after the midweek game and we can take advantage

What is it with Plymouth goalkeeper? They seem to pullout worldies against us, though in truth Frey should have scored.

Smyth again our best player by a mile today. Edwards seems to have settled, but like the defence not really tested

Chair and Morgan both having quiet games. Think we just need to up it a little and will comfortably win this. Plymouth are really poor

Let's have it right, Chair has been shite. 10 more minutes of that and I'd rather see Saito Alfie Lloyd on. We need bring the tempo.

Blimey Argyle TV, its the championship and these two do the half time coverage. Give us a break.

Oh and it's Michy Frey.

Not Michele Frei, Michele Fry or any of the other iterations you have attempted.

What a joke club.

Always take a 0-0 at halftime away from home, now to kick on in the 2nd half.

Blatant intentional knock on with the hand there, not even a yellow?

Plymouth Match Thread - Post Captain Pugwash !! on 13:19 - Jan 18 by qprd

we were the better team in a pretty bad half of footballl... typical bottom of championship match

plymouth are bad- we may still lose this game but they are rly uninspiring

standouts are morgan dunne and smyth (despite a few typical smyth mistakes)

cant evaluate the centerhalves as they didnt need to do much

thought chair and paal had bad halves.... disappointed in chair, the left side of the pitch is way too quiet

Odd pick for two poor performances there. Many others out there having stranger performances than those two.

Much the better team of two poor teams today.

Cannot believe we're not out of sight here.

Get at them from the off and we should steam roller them. But I suspect their manager is saying the same.

Can we go out yet?

Again quite good in the first two thirds but not much threat/quality in the one that counts, outside of set pieces.

Plymouth clearly lacking in quality and confidence and we need to keep it that way and not let them get their tails up.

There for the taking.

Saito Alfie Lloyd. Twice the player we thought we had.

We've been the better side. We created the only 2 clear cut chances but Grimshaw saved them both. They can't cope with Smyth's pace, so, I hope we exploit that more in H2.

I wonder if Marti might use Lloyd instead of Kolli as a sub with some pace.

See Patrick Kliuvert's son has scored more goals at St Jame's Park than he managed, when actually playing for Newcastle

Think this one of those that will bite us on the bum. I think the entire front four have been below par, Smyth has caused trouble but decision making not as it's been in recent weeks.

Plymouth definitely have a goal in them. Expect to see Colback quite early and Varane benched like to see Kolli after 60. Frey not massively effective today

Also insisting on calling Chair SHAY-air, which may be correct I guess but confuses me every time

Plymouth Match Thread - Post Captain Pugwash !! on 13:18 - Jan 18 by Hoopsarrr

Chair has that tendency to slow the play down, allowing opposition defenders to get back in position. That's one major dislike about his game.

True. Interestingly though, the two goals he's created recently for Dunne have been from first time crosses, so hopefully it's something they've been talking about with him. It would make him a much more dangerous player (and he's already very good, obviously) if he did that more consistently.

whats he supposed to do? bouncing ball and he hits it first time on target its a great save

are you expecting him to first time chip the keeper? hes not haaland is he?

What's he supposed to do? Not hit it back at the keeper, that's what. If he hits that straight in front of him towards the bottom rigjt hand corner then the keeper has no chance. It's a very poor effort and very big miss that.

Let's hope we can bury one second half.
