Manchester United to go down is the greatest show in town right now.
And lets face it, their form suggests its possible. This new manager, makes Ten Hag look like Alex Ferguson. 6 points above the drop and have Liverpool and Arsenal next.

Would North close LFW's if it did? I don't think he'd ever be able to compose himself again.

TBF he brought them straight back up again and won the Cup in '77. Loved Gordon Hill, was sorry it didn't work at us.

Not much between the two divisions in those days.
I liked the Doc . I’m not sure the husband of man Utd Physio did though. 😉

It's the comedian Michael Spicer who did the satirical video series The Room Next Door. He's taking the piss.

I like him.

I may have been a Christmas trifle on the slow side there.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Looks like Manure cannot spend in the transfer window either given that the posted a £115million loss last season. That’s more than three years PSR allowances rolled into one. And whoever renewed Rashford’s contract for another three years on £350k per week was an absolute genius!😂

Apropos of absolutely nothing, there's an article in the Athletic today is a table of all 92 teams performance for 2024. United are one place above us with 1.38 points per game, we have 1.36.

A back-heel, legend has it.

he looked just as gutted when he back healed that ball in the united net, as he did sitting watching us thrash united in the studio at old trafford 4-1 almost 33/32 years ago to the day.

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Nothing's impossible, but they're at the back of a substantial queue that even Everton aren't that likely to get through. More chance of Forest finishing in the top 4, and probably more chance of us making the playoffs.

I'd say Man City are the highest placed team who's not in contention for a spot in the champions league next season, and Man United are the lowest placed team who's not in a relegation battle.

My dad was a United supporter from the days when the only football they'd show in Ireland were Man United games and he took me to my first QPR game at home to United, a draw we should have won by 3 or 4 with my extensive 8 years of footballing knowledge.

In the intervening 40 years I've grown to a point where I can't stand them. Can't stand their self-entitled, overpaid and over-valued players, their arrogant, tyrannical managers, their sheep-like fans, their corrupt board, the bias constantly shown them by cowardly officials like Lee Mason, the incessant bleating from the gaggle of their ex-players-turned-pundits, their shìtbox crumbling stadium and their no-mark city with it's enormous chip on it's shoulder that it's not London. Even the players they've loaned to us over the past 30 years have been shìtty two-bob strollers.

The only good thing about them is they're not Chel***

I only recently learned that Dennis Law's back heel goal didn't actually relegate Man Utd. They would have gone down regardless because of results elsewhere.

Interesting article on that season here for example:

https://www.englishfootballleaguetables.co.uk/Blog/Blog1973-74.html

It mentions Utd fans invaded the pitch and the game had to be abandoned after Law's goal but the result was subsequently allowed to stand because Man Utd were down regardless.

Also mentions George Best made his final appearance for Utd in a 3-0 defeat at QPR on New Year Day, which I also didn't know!

Thinking back to 1958 the whole world supported Man U after Munich. I remember bursting a gut in the school cross country so I could get home to watch the semi final replay against Fulham.
Sadly most of the affection has been squandered following recent shenanigans.
I also remember watching George Best's abject performance on New year's day 73 when we won 3-0, his last game. Quite frankly, he just couldn't be bothered.

If we've queries about the standard of officiating in the Championship now, imagine what it will be like with United in it.

Opponents getting booked in the tunnel before walking out on to the field; VAR used if/when United want to; timekeeping kept by United subs; missed United penalties retaken; any fouls/decisions given against United subject to veto by United.

Fck 'em!!

You forgot to mention Bruno the whinning pr*ck running along side the ref all game trying to do his job for him.He does it now on every decision I would love to see him and his team playing at LR and far worse pitches in the Championship.
Of course he would be long gone as would most of the squad with built in relugation clauses.. Unless they not even considered the drop when signing those outlandish contracts .

Might have mentioned it, but I can't stand them. Even the one time I thought they'd done us a favour - paying £2m for Paul Parker - was tainted by Man City paying an extra £500k for Keith Curle.

A real ding-dong going on v Liverpool, 2-2 now!

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Any player you wouldn't want that last second sitter to drop to, would probably be Harry Maguire 😆 .

Enjoyed that match tbf. I'd like to know the record for most penalties won in the top flight, I reckon Liverpool must be way out in front, especially on VAR.

It would be a disaster for the brainiacs behind the super league… they’d have to put that on ice for a decade until Manure are re-established as one of their beloved ‘big six’.

Incredible second half in brutal conditions and as much as I despise Utd they should have won that.Still not sure a ball headed that close and hitting the hand is a penalty but VAR is in charge now. Booking HM for a clean tackle and giving Liverpool a free in a dangerous spot was b.s from Oliver IMO but Mo missed it high.
That last second chance is tough because the Utd player could have fired it at the net or passed it but it was bouncing and Harry tried to sidefoot it , a striker would have wrapped his foot around it and buired it though.
Utd wont go down playing like that second half but the next few games will tell a lot

by Denis Law no less. Really rubbing the salt in the wound.

It's an urban myth. The way results fell that day they'd still have been relegated even had they won as Birmingham beat Norwich in their final game.

At the conclusion of the game with City with a game left they were five points behind Birmingham who were fourth from bottom with two points for a win don't forget.

Coincidentally, it was this day that LR got it's record attendance against recently crowned champions Leeds.

EDIT: Just seen Bath Ranger's post mentioning it.

Maybe they raised their game against their biggest rivals?A bit like Rangers did against Celtic the other day,and then seem to lose or draw the other games.

I think the opposite. Man Yoo get relegated (doubtful but would love to see it) then they’ll pull some righteous indignation it’s bad for football bleat and start a super league … and fcuk off and good riddance if they do.

Couldn't agree more, Brian.

There's a whole world of Celebs out there that I've never given a flying one about; people like, I dunno, the Kardashians, who I realise are famous (or maybe were, I wouldn't know) but I don't really know why or care. If people want to follow that, good luck to 'em, but it means nothing to me (as Midge Are used to sing.)

Man United and almost all of the Premier League are now in that category for me. Sure, they're in the papers, a load of people follow every little bit of gossip about them, but there's nothing really there any more.

I always wondered why so many Irish supported United. My dad did too. but was never that committed to it and living near QPR was a regular at LR when younger and still goes now and again with my brother. He also was one of the few who bet on a QPR win when we won 4-1 at Old Trafford. He told me before the game and I laughed at him.

They won't go down, not even close. Today's point at Anfield shows that.
