And the second half was how you should play when you’re 3-0 up. It wasn’t as exciting, but it was professional. QPR went for it early on but their spell didn’t last long and they never looked like getting back into it. Chalk and cheese from the capitulation against Sunderland.

Have to agree excellent first half, and the second half was all about not letting QPR back in the game. How many times have we been down on the concourse at half time talking about how well we played but as the season has progressed had to question whether we can hold onto the three points or even the one, seeing tight games out has been an issue, more so at home with a number of capitulations, as we have seen games away were we have let us be overrun early in games by so called bad team.but have been able to overturn against Hull we did have a little revival but could get back into the game . Team selection for Sundays game do we pick the same starting line up and try and get the game in the bag early, while still keeping ourselves tight in defence and then as early as possible make the substitutions needed to give players a rest. If you think about our substitutions against QPR we brought the big boys and by that I mean taller players, Abdulai, Pearl-Harris and Fulton to assist in the expected tactic employed by desperate team of getting the ball into the box anyway they can and hope to have success with an aerial advantage. Did want to mention a couple of games against PNE both where we went in up at half time. This season we controlled the game getting a Pen in the first half which Grimes but we didn't really press home our advantage until the second half where both Abdulai and Vipotnik scored allowing us to run out comfortable 3-0 winners similar to the QPR game getting the game management right, we were as a team at that phase of the season very tight in defence. The second PNE game was the one while under Martin where he played Manning in a front three , Allen in the middle and Cullen on the right wing if my memory is correct the game was won 3-0 by half time Martin reverted Manning to fullback, Allen ran out of puff in the middle and Grimes dropped deep, the attempt at game management didn't really work at they almost got back in the game it end 3-2., really think against Hull and other teams our game management has been poor making it hard for ourselves. Against QPR we got it right.
