Prisoners should be obliged to do hard labour and earn cash and time off their sentences. This time of year there are fruit vegetables and flowers to be picked and it is a national need with shortages.
This has huge potential benefits
a) cash in their pockets for the winter
b) Fresh air
c) Healthy mentally and physically
d) Good for the nation
The workers would be segregated a tagged. A volunteer option for the young a fit. We did it in days gone by. See the magnificent Lionel Jeffries.
