When I hunt, it's for food. I don't agree with trophy hunting. To shoot an animal just for the sake of killing it is ridiculous to me. I could go into the other factors of deer hunting, like population management, but I'm probably not going to change your mind on how you feel about hunting. And that's perfectly fine. I appreciate your viewpoint and I can agree with parts of it, especially being against the people who want to kill animals just for the sake of killing.
To touch on some other points that posters have made...
There are estimated to be over 300 million guns in the US. While you may be able to retrieve many, the government would never be able to collect nearly enough. They would especially have trouble collecting them in rural areas.
Yes, we do need better gun laws over here and much stricter enforcement. Currently, there is a bill in the House to try and loosen restrictions on armor piercing bullets and gun silencers. There is absolutely no civilian need for either of these things. I don't even want to imagine how much worse the Las Vegas shooting would have been if that psycho had a silencer. We also have "gun shows" in the US where people can buy/sell/trade guns. That's one of the biggest loopholes of where people get around background checks. In my opinion, gun shows need to be done away with. They can also start banning the selling of military style weapons as far as I'm concerned. Sadly, neither will probably ever happen. | | | |

No, I did a little dove and quail hunting with shotguns many years ago, but I don't like guns. I've never even fired a rifle or handgun, and doubt I ever will.

No idea how true it is, but there are reports that he bought a gun legally and modified it legally to give it approximately the same rate of fire as an automatic although it doesn't become an automatic and so there was nothing illegal in what was done.
