A turning point perhaps?
at 23:22 8 Sep 2024

Amazing how these behind the scenes people manage to control all political parties, the press, the legislature and the judiciary all so efficiently but fail to shut you up.

You must either be very brave or very stupid to out them so publicly, seeing as they manage to control all of the above it surely wouldn’t be too hard or too inconceivable for them to bump you off.

I see we are subsidising Goztepe again.
at 17:16 25 Aug 2024

I think we have all missed the point. I thought when SR bought us we were to be the crown jewel in their little group. I fear instead we were just brought into be leached off.

Goztepe are worth €18mil now, not sure how much SR bought them for (details don’t seem to be online) but I imagine a lot less given that apart from three teams in the second team division nobody is worth more than €8mil. We of course are worth €270mil (SR with of course €216mil of that). But I think the big difference is how easy it would be to make Goztepe double in value again compared to Saints. To do so they probably just need to finish in the top four, well having a look at the team that finished fourth last year the value of the players don’t look far off what we are loaning Goztepe. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/istanbul-basaksehir-fk/marktwertanalyse/verein/6

So looks like the SR model isn’t for improving all the teams, it’s about buying a PL team, letting it stay where it is (which is still nice and profitable) and then push on with the other teams in the group artificially using the PL team’s finances where it will not be noticed that much.

Bella-Kotchap move now ‘100% Off’
at 09:03 20 Aug 2024

I think unless we want to write him off as a bad investment there is also now a lot of pressure on the club to play him and play him heavily this season to prove the heart issue/ general fitness is not a problem so that someone else would pay good money for him. It will be interesting to see how long before he finds his way into the team come September

Archer transfer in possible breach of FIFA rules!
at 11:26 19 Aug 2024

Where are you getting that from? “No club or player shall be involved in a bridge transfer.” Is what I have found from the article reporting this, nothing about the selling team.
Presumably Saints did enough due diligence to know that Archer had already been transferred in this window.
Hopefully our lawyers know enough to have put an indemnity in the contract with AV for beach of the rules for any fine!

My summary of yesterday's game
at 09:24 18 Aug 2024

Mine is short also and frustratingly the narrative could have been written by most fans before the game kicked off!
Armstrong could have had a hatrick in the championship but lacking composure/quality finishing for the PL.
McCarthy not playing the type of football he can actually play giving away the expected chance and frankly felt the shot itself was saveable. He managed to give this away in a 10 man game where we had the lion share of the possession, imagine what games where we are under pressure will look like.
Stephens shoe horned in and in my opinion from watching replays touches a ball that was going in which made it offside.

Southampton Sign Forward From Aston Villa
at 18:28 16 Aug 2024

I don’t have any knowledge of this but seems pretty weird Villa would have a buyback for less money than they sold a player for. Is it not more likely that Sheffield had the option to force a sale back of the player (hence it being less money) if they got relegated to help limit their liabilities for spending on promotion and potential subsequent relegation?

Lazio keeper - possible swap for Alcaraz
at 02:09 12 Aug 2024

Oh Pat my naive Pat, the point I was making was that 90% of the reports are nonsense, City haven’t looked at either of these players. City aren’t going to be buying Lazio’s backup keeper

Saints should probably ask you to look over highlights reels in the future before we make signings, we might save some monies.

I’m sure there are reports of Onuachu being linked with similar level teams at some point prior to him signing for us, doesn’t make them true

Goals scored in a “schmuck” league don’t count for Tall Paul but goals saved in a similar league a top class keeper make?

Exactly! The figures are always so hypothetical, where are the people biting our hand off for Onuachu whom is valued at €13m.

Even if he is on on the same as the club before we were losing £3000 a week last season as apparently Goztepe were giving him £4,900 so presumably we were making up the shortfall. Admittedly over a year that’s only £150k lost.

I am only finding his value to be €1.6m up by €400k from when we signed him. I’m not sure how profitable exercise this is turning out to be.

Seems like our club has not progressed since SR bought us (coming back up doesn’t count as we went down) but has allowed Goztepe to progress. Doesn’t seem to have harmed us too badly as admittedly the numbers are small but at the same time rather than having an owner that is allowing us to stagnate and then turn smaller group clubs into good investments using our books to get round FFP I would rather have an owner that wanted us to push on and was solely focussed on such.

Can you not read?

It’s a pretty pointless stat that I imagine you have taken from a website that is penned in a biased way (having just had a quick google for the stat and come upon the likely website)

Sort of a null point, why would you bring your ID when crossing the channel illegally?
1. Do you think they should bring it incase they want to then pop off for a weekend mini break to Spain the next summer?
2. Kind of the opposite thing you want on yourself when entering a country illegally - something that proves exactly who you are!

You say this but I asked a couple of queries to try and clarify what you were saying and you seem to have chosen not to respond so we have to wonder if you were just parroting things you have heard other people say with no in-depth knowledge of what they were talking about

What was disgraceful about his speech, quote me the bits that offend you?

Again what do you actually mean by him defending sex offenders? Are you trying to refer to specific cases or his time as DPP?

Not in the time period referred to in my comment, if you read on to later posts you will see I touch on time periods that include that figure. What is the point you are making anyway?

Not even left! Gone back and forth between Lib Dem’s and the Tory’s in the last four elections, think you might just be quite far out on the right so everything looks left

It does make me chuckle when people in this country point to over-population, just feels like a buzz word rather than anything in practice impacting your life.

Frankly if you want the infrastructure issue to be fixed we need more people because it creates new housing which under the S106 agreements and CIL payments for such allow the public sector to levy the private sector to improve communities infrastructures.

Without new housing the LA’s (which are verging on bankruptcy) are going to have to make up that shortfall themselves if you want new infrastructure! Add on to that the social housing element of the new housing is in part funded by tax payers and other infrastructure then you need more tax payers!

What does your Britain of 50 years in the future without immigration and/or high birth rates look like- it’s looks like now but after 50 years of no new development!
