I feel like we really need to get our wingers on the pitch - when you think back to last season against Reading & Brum away, our main tactic was Pav bombing down the wing crossing it in for a striker.
Would like to see a 4231 - Scowen/Luongo in the 2, Osayi-Samuel Freeman and Pav as part of a 3, then Sylla up top. Smith/Washington on as an impact sub.
Logic suggests Furlong in at right back as he's got a bit of pace about him - watching Baptiste get done out wide on Saturday was horrifying! Unsure on the rest of the back 4, any combination of Lynch/Baptiste/Robinson for the central roles, then Bidwell on the left.
A lack of pace I reckon. We're so slow getting up the pitch, so can't seem to counter. I also think we need to go 4 at the back away from home, and get some real width from our wingers/fullbacks. Players like Wszolek have to play away from home.
Part of me thinks Wolves didn't turn up, but the other part of me thinks our pressing style completely ruined their style of play! I reckon most teams this season will set up to defend against them this season, so they're used to having time on the ball - and I think our tactics completely confused them!
I'm pretty sure he played there for about 5 minutes in one pre-season friendly - would never risk him in defence in the league. Probably safer putting Caulker in if I'm honest!
As good as Robinson was at the weekend, he didn't look all that good in the air, so I suspect he might have a hard time tonight and they'll target him.
Complete agree. He played 25 games for a Preston side that finished in the top half last season - can't be that bad. Thought Perch played really well on Saturday by the way, but if we're playing 3 at the back this season then it definitely makes sense to have some options. Happy with this signing.
