Don't disagree with what you are saying but now everyone needs to work hard without the ball and track back.

I think Adel gradually adapted his game. He became a deep lying midfield player in his Benfica days. He could always tackle when he wanted to and must have eventually learnt to work harder to hold down a first team place in Portugal.

Adel with Rrrrrs was 11 or 12 years back. Game has moved on.
Virtually all players have to track back and avoid losing possession, even in the opposition's half, as many teams break with great speed in the 'modern game'.

International breaks may ease cumulative fatigue but they are little or no help with the length of recovery from the previous match, which varies by player.
Some players need more than others, due to carrying knocks, age or historical injuries. We simply don't have the details to form an objective opinion.

We can't afford anymore injuries by overloading players.
It's been in modern terms, more or less, minimum recovery after Saturday, when there was a game in which we had to do a lot of chasing as well as the travelling involved.
We have invested a considerable amount of our budget on new recruits. Some have played numerous minutes, Nardi, Dembele; Others rather less, Ashby, Saito, Santos, Varane, Madsen. Celar probably somewhere in between It is important that we give these players 'minutes'. We will have several more occasions of three game weeks which, as Clive has regularly reminded us, have been an 'achilles heel' for us over previous seasons. We need to be more competitive in all these games and try and pick up more points, which could make a huge difference to staying out of a relegation battle or maybe even pushing us into the playoff picture.
Our players are humans. They are also professional sportsman and some of them will have the wear and tear of several years and will need managing. Frey and Anderson may be two examples.
We also, as fans, have short memories. We have suffered major injuries in cup competitions in the past. Akos at Man U and Jamie at Blackburn; Ale as well, I think, but I can't remember the match.
It's logical to think that the players who were rested will be better for it on Saturday. They will need to be as Millwall have had a week of training too and without the focus of the club shifting to a different challenge.
There are no guarantees but I hope we do win, otherwise there will be a big f*** off response of 'I told you so on here', which by the second reading of the classified football results will have gone to five pages.🙄😁

Andy Sinton presenting EZE with a framed hoops shirt before the game, at about 7.30. Might be worth leaving the pub a few minutes early.🤔😁

I presumed we picked up the Sheff Weds commentary. Sounded like he was leaning towards the Owls.

Bennie and Gus. I don't think that part of the arm counts as handball under the recent (let's make it more complicated) changes to the handball law. Some nonsense about the t shirt line.

There were two things I couldn't quite believe.
1. The referee didn't blow the whistle.
2. We actually scored from it!

BUNDLE – Report
at 10:42 16 Sep 2024

I've run out of adjectives to describe your reports. It's just brilliant as always. Being from an older age group than you who doesn't watch the same shows, I don't always truly understand your references but I can grasp the overall fun in your writing.

I particularly like the idea of their goalkeeper making amorous advances in the bundle for the goal. That and a few other phrases had the laughter tear ducts moistening.

Thank you again, you've been a major part of my enjoyment in watching the Rrrrs for somewhere around fifteen years now.

True condolences on your loss. Great that you took him to see the Rrrs and he has now gone through 'Heaven's Gate' to join Rory and Jimi. RIP

Thank you Alex a nice perspective from the sofa 😬😁.

It's an interesting read and one I agree with. Pal had a dodgy pre season but seems to have settled and getting back to his best. He may be small but he usually does compete well in the air. Like you, I really hope Sam can continue to adapt to Martiball and play a big part for us going forward. Frey is really impressive centre forward. Very good finisher, very good battler, times his movement excellently, intelligent player.

It's great to have another excellent contributor for Clive's club, or should that be circus.

Transfer rumours 2024
at 11:59 8 Sep 2024

Supposition, I know, but he mentioned he had to take a pay cut to come to us last year, which I presume was tied up with bonuses at the Magpies. He would probably drop so much in wages, he is probably hanging out to recover virtually all of his contracted salary. The club wants to cut their losses but can't really do that unless he is to give up a substantial portion.

They would probably prefer him to sign for a club with a bigger budget, then they could negotiate him down. Saudi would probably be their preference but he seems wants to stay at a perceived 'better' level and in this country. His six month stay in Belgium, didn't go well.
