Cannot remember who, or what game, but saw it the other day where a teams keeper had been given the ball, was gonna play a tippy tappy style approach yet was under pressure immediately from the opposing striker. Never seen it before, but the keeper literally 180’d it, turned to face his goal pretty much and simply played it out to conced a corner. Not ideal losing a corner, but couldn’t hoof it so made best sense. [Post edited 21 Oct 12:16]

Always remember Jimmy Greaves commenting on the old crazy gang back in the day when they went ‘route 1’. Whilst most of us like to see the game played on the deck he congratulated Wimbledon for getting a goal in the quickest manner, ie direct.
Not a route one fan particularly, but it sure beats some other ways certain types feel the game needs to be played…. |

Whoever decided to give Rylan a contract extension when there was absolutely no need should be strung up.
And before anyone counters, he still had a couple of years regardless which he could have proved himself before committing.
What gets me is did anyone think we would not get regularly beat playing his stupid way…… |

So easy to be flippant, but really, the game as we know it has gone. It’s not just the whole mobile phone or Social Media side of things, it’s the crass bias / non consistency / and blatant manipulation of the rules in the game as well these days. Mind you, a lot of it does improve to some extent when your particular team has a bit of success.
On the OP subject though, it pains me to say this, but I actually despise a lot of our fans now - absolute Noddies who look at you with disdain for questioning anything about the club, manager, or how things are going. As for the love in with this so called wonderful ‘style’ or brand of football…., |

Honestly, I don’t think it is just WUM’s or Pompey infiltrators, there really are a fair few that seem to have a love in with this boring, turgid brand of football. I personally would rather see us lose by a hatful of goals but at least try to take on the opposition…..
