6-a-side league advice 07:20 - Jan 18 with 1992 viewsWixamsR

Wondering if any of you fine people have ever been involved in the running of a small sided league? Was thinking of setting one up in my local area but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether you need things like insurance, first aiders etc

Anyone with any advice? Would be greatly appreciated!

Here we go again!

Duty of care vs. Assuming risk etc.

While there maybe some on here who have actually done what you're proposing to do and thus, have actual first hand experience, you'll likely be met with a wall of well intentioned advice that will range from the oh so wrong, to the bang on the money.

So, my advice, call your:

- Local FA and/or the FA itself;
- The local council whose surfaces you maybe playing on;
- If it's a privately owned pitch, check with them.

If it were me, then I'd probably want to protect myself over any claims and I'd certainly know where the local A&E is so you can get an injured player into a 5 hour queue to be seen.

Goals do a 6 a side league. Im assuming they have insurances in place, not really sure how that works in practice. I know they have first aiders on site.
I cant see why you couldnt set up your own league or tournament using their facilities either. How many teams are you thinking of?

Occasional providers of half decent House music.

I play in a 5-a-side league and our venue management insists we have public liability insurance.

They arrange it and we pay approx 15% of the venue hire fee each week, so £28 hall fee + £4.20 insurance.
