Big Difference between Tuesday night and Saturday was that Field was playing deeper in a two alongside Varane, and Ilias rarely had an option inside when he received the ball. This is big contrast to the right hand side where Morgan was often doubling up with Smyth, and on Saturday when Field was offering options on the left. |

I'm a huge fan. The amount of times he wins the ball cleanly from tackles is something else. Its different to Sam Field who often wins the ball through positioning and physical pressure, with Varane he just seems to snake his foot to the ball and take it away from the oppo player. But he does have his brain farts, which I think come down to occasional lapses in concentration. I think he also lacks a little confidence with his forward passing once he gets beyond the half way line as if he doesn't know how to attack with the ball at his feet. I'd be hoping that the more experience he gets playing at Championship Intensity the more he'll become accustomed to being switched on for the full 90 minutes, and the attacking part I hope will com with good coaching. But I agree, he's got all the makings of a Rolls Royce of a midfelder. |

Colback's left footed and him and Field can play that advanced midfielder on the left Infront of Varane, but on the right its Morgan or Madsen(god help us). Morgan had a rest with only 20 mins vs Leicester, and I see no reason to rest him vs Hull especially given the likely replacement would be Madsen |

We're actually playing 4141 now, but change back to 4231 when defending a lead towards the end of the game. Its why our pressing game has become so much better recently. |

It was the making of Paul Smyth. But as we saw with Bonne, being prolific in League One does not necessarily translate to being even moderately effective at Championship level as a striker. |

Would we have even seen him or given him the opportunity to develop if we had signed Hayden? For me he's the brightest spark out of the whole season. For all of the complaints about our summer recruitment, we have got some gems in, but it seems to be the ones we've not paid money for are the ones that show the most promise. |

The added bonus is he can also play in midfield in the Field role. |

Surprised no mention of Devon White White White. Legs the size of tree trunks and about as mobile. Absolute legend Oh and Bob Hazell [Post edited 12 Oct 2024 8:39]

Natural ways? Healthy diet and exercise, healthy body composition(below 20% body fat), low alcohol intake, no smoking. Be careful of fasting. I’m not saying not to but if not done properly it’s a one way route to sarcopenia in the over 60s [Post edited 12 Oct 2024 3:09]

When you have a team that can score over 800 run at 5.5 an over, no pitch is a bad pitch except when its bad in the other direction where neither side can post above 100. |

Our fullbacks are dreadfully exposed. Compare us to any opposition this season. As soon as our wingers get the ball they are closed down by two sometimes three usually because we are sooo slow in getting the ball to them. Whereas opposition wingers consistently find themselves one on one with our fullbacks. Miller had the freedom of the left hand side of the pitch today. I felt sorry for Santos as he was horrendously exposed all game, and you just can do that against a quality player like Miller. |

He looked quite useful in what little I saw of him in the friendlies. Good luck to him, 3 months experience in the men's game at that level will do him good, |

in 50 years supporting this club he is the only play once they've left I follow the reports and results of every game of the club they're at. Much as I hate Palace, I have implicitly become a follower just because he plays for them. Fabulous player, fabulous human being. |

To be fair to Paal, he's had absolutely zero cover in front of him from either Saito or Lloyd forcing him to drop off his man when there's a chance he's going to get overloaded, meaning he's not close enough to challenge when the cross comes in. This occurs a lot less when Chair is playing because the opposition are far less likely to overload players against Paal. |

Lloyd's a centre forward. But Cifuentes plays him on the left because he's behind Celar and Frey in their position and he sees something in him he wants to develop with first team football with less pressure on the wing than if he plays lone striker. He cause Luton problems during the week and a start was his reward, and without Chair available, its a toss up between him Kholli, Saito, and Smyth on the left at the moment without Ilias. I think he needs half a season on loan in League one, but he's one to watch for the future. He's definitely not a starter at the moment in my book, but certainly someone that can offer a bit of direct play as a sub in order to push the opposition back. |
