On my way home and seething…. 1. Why take Taylor and Anderson off given nobody else will score. 2. Why Hunt & Flanagan when Egbo, Kellerher and Goodrich are fit? 3. Read simply looks bewildered. 4. Matt Jay must have done something very wrong. Cowleys out! [Post edited 2 Nov 17:59]

Given all the hype and the baloney coming from the Chuckle Brothers I demand better. The most loyal fans typically spend over £4,500 per annum following this dross, home and away, and deserve better after 15 years of continuous decline under Robbie Cowley. Something must be fundamentally wrong. We sell off the silver (Fevrier & Bradley) in the Summer; Edwards & Tovide get injured, and now we find Thorn is cup-tied! How was that allowed to happen! Owned by a recruitment agency, we should have better succession planning, and that applies as regards managers. A mistake was made when we recruited all the Ipswich has-beens only looking for a final pay cheque. Now it’s been repeated with Lincoln and Portsmouth cast offs. Fed up with the despair!!!!! |

Ah, the pink pills. That’s the Bedknobs & Broomsticks fantasy Ray. Had you taken the blue pills it would have been Mary Millington rather than Angela Lansbury dressed in the nurse’s uniform…. |

No, but made a cash donation that will be matched by CUSA. Further donations will be accepted by CUSA pre-match tomorrow in the fan-zone lounge. A prize draw will be made rewarding donors en route to Swindon. Prizes include signed memorabilia and hospitality match tickets. |

I have two fun memories of Swindon on a Tuesday night…. The first was the behind the goal ball boy that obligingly assisted our time wasting by being hesitant to leave his shelter despite the Swindlers not employing multi-ball. He could not have been wetter if strapped to the front of a herring trawler. The second was when I grabbed JT’s hand and declared we were a couple to take advantage of a BOGOF Valentine’s Day ticket offer. This was long before woke normality and caused considerable mirth. JT has never forgiven me. |

£12 Adult, £10 OAP, so even if they charge a premium for cash on the gate it won’t be much. However, I do suggest buy on line as ticketing queues at Swindon can be tedious. One can always unsubscribe from their crap emails. My other message is to warn folk that pubs around the Swindon ground are very away fan unfriendly (which is becoming a trend at away grounds ever since other clubs caused trouble). Nearby, there is merely a single away friendly pub about 300 yards from the roundabout near the main entrance. I don’t recall its name, but food was OK and bottled real ale is available. Last visit, we walked miles to find a welcome. Port Vale & Chesterfield similar. See you there Wessex! |

We had a distinct plan that was well executed. Our attacking prowess was almost zero with the absence of Tovide, Edwards etc, so we lined up 5, 5, 0 leaving Taylor on the bench. Even if the home side had 100% possession when its 98% in front of ten men it is inconsequential. Reminded me of the 300 Spartans, they shall not pass us (and pass only between each other). Before the match we were told by Chesterfield fans that they struggle to break down teams that play a back five, with a midfield three, let alone against a five and midfield five, and true to that ethos, most of their shots were inconsequential from outside the box. DC had done his homework. Chesterfield played wonderful passing football, but with almost zero penetration. Reminded me of Col U under Ben Garner. Pitty pat footie with little bite. We made by far the better chances and Macey was hardly troubled despite the statistics. When they hit the bar, it was Hopper that cleared it off the line. Ten defenders, a perfectly legitimate tactic against a top team. Proving hard to beat must be our first step towards enlightenment. |

Oscar Thorn is a great prospect. I’d wager he starts on Tuesday. Thrown in the deep end earlier than fate might have expected, but I think he can deliver. Fast, good feet, knows where the goal is. Question is, is he yet robust enough for Division Two thuggery and the lack of protection from referees? I’m looking forward to his debut. |

I can’t recall a worse home performance since Stevenage trashed us one Boxing Day. Fortunately, Cheltenham were only marginally better. What baffles me is why the Cowley’s rate Hunt and Flanagan so highly? |

Is this THE worst referee of all time? I’ve seen similar tackles at Twickenham. Cheltenham are an utter bunch of thugs. Zero protection from referee, Tovide already off crippled. To be fair, their goals have been outstanding. Our response, Tom Hopper. Oh dear, back to one place above relegation, our eternal destiny….. |

Nothing can ever top Norwich 1 - 7 Colchester United. Although beating Wolves in the Championship at Layer Road comes close. |

It works for Rugby Union & Cricket, so why not football? If Tuchel is the best available man, then why not? I simply see this as the former CEO of company A moving to become CEO of competitor B. Why should his place of birth or any other facet irrelevant to football have any impact? For example; Successful scouser Liverpool players have become successful managers at other clubs, so what has past loyalty got to do with anything in football’s highly commercial environment? Many UK clubs have superb overseas managers that show zero favour when they come up against team competition from their homeland. My dad probably shot at his grandad, but I doubt if Tuchel holds any grudges. He has pride in his own performance and is paid a handsome sum to delivery it. |
