Utter disgrace and made it clear to me that day that football is 100% corrupt and not about fans at all. Saudi in summer months gets over 50 degrees so if they play it in July, people will die. I will not be watching it, same as I did not watch a ball kicked in Qatar. So far as I am concerned, top level football (WC and PL) have gone. They are no longer sports. |

I have a good friend here who is a Charlton fan. We have a bet on them going up/not going up. I don't think they will. |

Poorly managed, spot on sir. This is what I have been saying for a long time. Most players improve as they play more. Ours went backwards under RM. I believe IJ will improve quite a few of ours. I reckon he will improve Suga, THB, Wood and a few others. We all knew these lot could play better than they were. They had just had the stuffing coached out of them. |

And Liverpool got beat at Plymouth. It happens. Move on. I am gutted as well as we would have had a good chance of QF again. But I am back IJ to keep turning things around and weed out the sulkers and bad influences. |

Slight over reaction guys, come on. Hold it together. Of course we would beat Exeter and likely Plymouth also. Portsmouth is a bit different as they will always up their game as best they can against us. I think everyone is getting a bit frazzled and extreme in their negativity ... things are bad yes, but it will take time to get shot of all the bad feeling inside the club. Come August I suspect most of the wasters, losers and bad feeling will be gone and we will have a pretty normal dressing room of players wanting to do their best and try to win a title. |

It is all too easy to get down in the dumps and over react after a game like Burnley. But, come on guys and gals. It is not all doom and gloom. This place will be buzzing again if we get a result of any sort against Bournemouth. Footballs fans, very Skitzo, up and down and all the place. Next season we will be better and will 100% be top six and as per my article I believe we will build a team in the summer that can make a serious title challenge. Look forwards! |

I think this is what a lot of people are not taking into account. He is indeed having to upset a lot of people and ruffle feathers. Too many were having an easy ride under RM. Sooner or later a manager had to come in and managing a team properly, with discipline etc. Now that has happened, results are not going to get better right away as so many of the softies ponces will be kind of on strike and sulking. Good. Get them out. Let IJ weed out the ones who wanted the two day a week training regime. Let him keep the ones who will fight to the death to win games. This will take time. Far to early to judge IJ based on one silly game where he has clearly been experimenting. He needs time to change the whole discipline and philosophy of the club internally. After 18 months of RM running the place in a lackadaisical way, being mates and pally with them all, IJ has one hell of a job to do with mental and physical health before he gets anywhere near winning teams. |

For me it is quite clear there is a lot of unrest at the club behind the scenes. I suspect there is a lot of division in the changing room; those who like the easy life under their mate RM, and those who want to succeed and work hard under IJ or any other. I would think there are also some players who have simply had a gut full of SFC and just want out and who can blame them. Probably best in the summer if we just release everyone and start again totally, only keeping those with the right attitude. |

I am not so sure about it being corruption or not, but to some degree I believe there is a PL directive to try and keep the big sides in cup competitions as it makes it more attractive to sell rights to the huge overseas audience. How many people in Malaysia, China etc., will want to watch a final between Leicester and Southampton? They would stand to lose many many millions. Money is the name of the game for the PL so making sure the finals are all big well known teams is what they demand. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Who Killed The Magic Of The FA Cup for Southampton at 13:14 6 Feb 2025
Simple answer, The Premier League. Since its very inception they have been aiming to make their brand number one and to hell with all the others, with the main aim eventually the European super league, which I think we all know is coming. And for me, it cannot come too soon. I would imagine Sky will focus on that, leaving the rest of us to go back to the 70's and 80's with BBC and ITV showing cup games and some league games and fans getting back to real football. Effectively the top league will become a slightly better championship. Yes, I know the best players will sod off to the super league, but who cares? What do we want more, the FA cup back in all its glory, or the best players? I would rather a lower quality of game, a more level playing field and an FA cup like it used to be. |

Sadly I am not quite old enough to remember some of these. Plus i was quite a late starter with footie compared to many. In my lifetime of attending matches I would pick... 1.Matt Le Tissier 2.Mick Channon 3.Peter Shilton 4.Marian Pahars 5.Steve Williams 6.Ivan Golac 7.Steve Moran 8.Nick Holmes 9.Rickie Lambert 10.Antti Niemi Probably would re think that given time, and will confess a lot of choices come from wistful thinking of the good old days and the favourites of that time. Still, it will raise some eyebrows I am sure, which is always good for some healthy debating. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Judas Lallana Wanting A Coaching Role at 08:06 6 Feb 2025
For me, this is definitely not the time to be employing legends based on the fans love for them (Le Tissier). I don't think he has the eight personality to be a DOF or similar. Ambassador yes, but nothing to do with running football issues. Similarly, I am not sure I would want Lallana running the club at this time, only perhaps the academy in some way as an inspiration to others. We need highly skilled and experience football people. |

Just seen Burnley have only conceded 9 goals all season. 9! After 31 games, we can all do the math and see they conceded about 1 every 3 games. Jeez. This could be quite a test for our goal scorers. |

I think I would have Nick Homes and possibly Steve Williams in there. Shearer no. He was no where near great when playing for us, but became great after. I think who ever made the list got a bit confused between legends for us or just legends overall. Alan Ball as you say, no way above many of those others. |

Makes sense to me. He is not going to help much this season, so best to send him to a decent team and get him sharp and ready for next season that league. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Transfer window at 05:55 4 Feb 2025
Not sure what people were expecting this window. No way were SR going to spend 50m + on players in an attempt to improve us enough to stay up. It would have been a waste of money. So, they had no choice but to get a few stocking fillers for next season in the championship. I thought we had all agreed this was going to happen? |

Surely it's about time he stayed on with the (third) club he has been relegated with. Perhaps it would do him good to go down with us, come back as title winners. |
