A stopped clock is right twice a day. And while I like his effort, sadly we won't improve as a team with Smyth as a regular starter - we've signed him twice and he still can't be relied upon to provide decent crosses or indeed finish. If he scores that first chance, it's a very different game. Players can only have so many chances - if they persistently fail to push on and improve, then we should be brutal. The worrying thing is how we have barely played well in seven league matches. Leeds at home seems an awful long time ago... |

Has Kakay got a club yet? |

At least his charges will get plenty of practice there. |

The fact that competitions are now manipulated to reduce the jeopardy of one of the big clubs actually being eliminated is probably the reason I most hate modern football. This is despite them having more money, players and resources than ever before - and their advantage over the rest being greater than at any point in history. God forbid they have to play each other in the third round of the league cup though. W*nkers. |

We definitely away with one when Field tried to save Whatmore's goal! Think it was already in though. |

Need to play with a faster tempo. Our goal was a quick break by Dembele then a simple through ball to Frey. Boom. Too much pi*ssing around passing sideways and backwards at the moment. [Post edited 21 Sep 15:33]

Also agree that Alfie Lloyd looks really promising. He was electric again last night in his brief cameo and arguably would have had a far greater impact on the match if he'd started instead of Celar. |

I found the first half pretty depressing. We stood off them so much it was like a training session for them. I kept thinking how disastrous Tune Group were, considering our respective positions when they took over. However, much better after the break and felt optimistic about the people running the club these days. Who knows, we may even catch up the likes of Palace and Brentford some day. I do agree with Brian that you should play your strongest team in a match like this, else what's the point? [Post edited 18 Sep 10:55]

Agree that he is a finisher who'd have historically played alongside a target man in a 4-4-2. Think he needs to play alongside Frey but can't see that happening. Bit of a conundrum. |

Thought we could have gone for it more, particularly in the first half. Not overly impressed by playing a second-string team either. |

Ireland were pathetic, waving the England players through their midfield. I'd put someone like Keane in charge of the while shebang and get rid of the eejits in the FAI. |

Just looking at the prices for the Brighton friendly (£15 for season ticket holders), so this seems fair enough. |

I do feel for Chrissy. He was my favourite player but the first time you see Dembele, it's 'Chrissy who?' Looks like a long old season for him. |

I think I know the answer but does it go the other way? If you’re buying a ticket for an event that's not sold out, do they reduce it 'dynamically' too? |
