Brum vs Fulham off
at 18:30 23 Dec 2021

Due to cases within the Birmingham camp. Does that put our game with them on the 2nd Jan in doubt now?

We could be on the other side of the coin now, where we had it relatively early on the rest of the leagues teams are starting to “catch up” for want of a better phrase.

Warburton coaching video
at 23:07 10 Jan 2020

Was looking for some training drill ideas for my sons under 8 team and came across this coaching video featuring Warburton.

Thought it was quiet interesting and could certainly see some of the patterns in this drill within our game.

Playing AJ but not 4-4-2
at 21:11 1 Dec 2013

is there a way of getting AJ into the team without going back to 4-4-2? IMO I don't think 442 will work as we don't have the midfield players for 2 in the middle. But we are in desperate need of some more clout going forward.

Would something like this work?

-----------------Green-----------------
---Simpson------Dunne-------Hill--------BEO
----------------Carroll--------------
-----Phillips-------Barton--------O'Neil
------------------------AJ---------------
--------------Austin--------------

I know its kind of like a 442 but with Carroll sitting deeper controlling the tempo and keeping the ball and Barton's Guile. Unfortunately based on the last couple of performances its Niko that looses out as I would play O'Neil wide right for his work-rate as we would need cover in the center and also a bit more cover for when BEO goes forward.

AJ playing just off of Austin - not in the hole more off the shoulder. (its a bit hard to illustrate it on here!

Thoughts?

Selling tickets on Viagogo
at 22:13 29 Apr 2013

I noticed a few people on here have used this, How exactly does it work?

If you have a season ticket how does the person buying your seat get into the ground as I assume you don't actually send them your actual season ticket card! Also how do you receive the money? Is it a bank transfer or do you need a PayPal account?

Old bets revisited
at 22:45 1 Feb 2013

I'm sure somebody on here (may have even been Norf) used to put a bet on every game for Big Dan Shittu to score the first goal. And over the course of the season would normally be up based on the odds of him scoring and goals he got.

Just wondered if anyone would be revisiting this bet with Samba? I'm thinking of starting it tomorrow, surely he will get at least a couple of goals before the season is up!

Djibril Cisse and being offside.
at 18:05 29 Aug 2012

Having read the match report, there was a line in there regarding Cisse making a habit of being offside.

I thought the same over the first couple of games too. So having got a seat in the Paddock last night between the centre circle and 18 yard box I decided to spend about 5 minutes concentrating on him and watching his movement.

I now know why he always goes offside. Its basically due to the slowness of the ball into him.

He sits on the shoulder of the defender, and as soon as our midfield has the ball he's already making his move. Unfortunately we take far too long to look for the ball, or don't see the pass at all.

3 times Dyer had the ball in midfield and 3 times Cisse went on a run only for him to take about 6 touches and by the time he went to play the pass Cisse was offside. The 3rd time he did his nut at Dyer.

The only thing I can see is that Cisse has the pace to beat most defenders so maybe it would be worth him giving the defender a yard or 2 before making the run. Alternately we could pass the ball earlier!!

Players ankle tape
at 21:21 27 Mar 2012

Something I have noticed more and more is the amount of tape players have around their ankles and how far up their leg it goes. I presume its to keep their shin pads in place, not that I understand that either just buy shin pads that wrap around your leg!!!

Anyway, watching the Sunderland Everton game and I swear Sessengong (sp) and Bedtner actually have another pair of white socks on over their normal socks!!

Looking at alot of the player and they have so much tape wrapped around that from the bottom of the shin pad down it all looks the same colour - this must be difficult for Refs and Lino's to tell who knocked the ball out for corners/goal kicks etc if both feet go in together for a loose ball? Whats the point in having different coloured shorts/socks if they are going to covered most of it up.

It does make me wonder why the FA have so many pedantic rules like booking people for celebrating with your own fans and taking your shirt off, they even go through the routine of checking players boots etc when subs come on yet they have tape 3 quarters of the way up their legs!!

I don't know why it bugs me so much but it really does!!!

Colours at the Cottage
at 22:56 1 Oct 2011

With the impending gorgeous weather tomorrow what's everyone's opinion on wearing colours for tomorrows game?

Bearing in mind my ticket is for the neutral end. All be-it it doesn't sound like its going to be very neutral, I'm not so worried about the Fulham fans seeing it more that presumably the stewards could refuse you entry if they really wanted to based on the fact you aren't technically "neutral"

Ecclestone and Chelski conspiracy Theory
at 13:00 27 May 2011

Me and Essex Senior were having a discussion after the news broke regarding Amits departure and came up with a small conspiracy theory.

Now we all know the poison dwarf is a know Chlesea fan, and correct me if im wrong but Abramovich's "mate"?

Just a thought but is it distinctly possible that a small part of him does not want to sell to the mittals as it would then mean that the "small club" down the road would then be backed by a man that makes Abramovich about as rich as Kerry Katona!

This in turn meaning that we could in future years to come establish ourselves a a top side and build a new ground etc and then become a bigger club than his beloved team.

He has openly admited that he does not care about us and is a chelsea fan therefore the more time he holds onto the club the less chance we have of progression.

Just a thought!
