The guy who drove the car responsible for the carnage has since passed away and the co-passenger who armed and flicked the TPU switch to get minutes counting down to set the explosion off was only 19 years of age at the time.
And contrary to widespread belief this outrage should be viewed vastly more as a Continuity IRA operation than a Real IRA one despite RIRA involvement, because the two teams including the ‘scout car/ getaway car’ were CIRA members.

Most of the IRA activities had little to do with the struggle but controlling the drugs trade prevelant in the late 80/90s,Black cabs another nice little earner one of the reasons why so many buses were attacked and the taxis not.Common crooks but dangerous ones with it. | |
