Spanish people in the main are very calm and very approachable. They donāt want the sort of behaviour that follows UK tourists. All chain bars planning applications are refused. Our area is for families, kids (who generally are exceptionally well behaved at the table for hours, being with family and elders and acting appropriately is ingrained into children) Crime rate is very low, for assaults and drunkenness (thatās rarely seen ever) Kids talk to the police, and when in groups always tidy up their rubbish and move aside on pavements for others. Iāve never experienced any other behaviour other than politeness. ( To do so brings disgrace on the family ) if the police do get involved you wonāt sit at grandmothers table for months. Thatās a real disgrace, she is the matriarch.
It might be old fashioned but there are still places in our area, in fact well outside the cities that still operate as if itās sixties Britain. Local markets, food, vegetables shopped locally is very cheap.
Nothing is perfect, and Spain most certainly isn't, but on this level it is. Public safety, consequences of actions and respect is everywhere.

Slightly back on topic but last evening whilst walking my dogs up a lane near my home I came across a lad and girl laying down across the path either side was uncut grass verges with the normal detritus including nettles , he saw me approaching with plenty of time to stand up and move to give me room to pass with two large dogs but refused to , I managed to pass with a bit of a struggle and in doing so made a comment about thanks for not moving , this seemed to enrage the scrot who got up and really came on strong threatening all sorts of violence , I stood my ground and verbal toing and froing continued but eventually I moved on after being told I should have respected him with the rest of the sh**e they normally come out with. Moving away from the situation with him still shouting all sorts of abuse towards me I noticed another lad walking down the lane towards me who happened to be scrots mate, after a quick update from scrot this other lad told me not to hit him as he was only 15 ,now I guessed he was a kid but a big kid in physical appearance , I did so want to knock the *wa* out but knew the consequences if I did .I must admit it did and still does upset me not because of the abuse but the fact I couldn't do anything other than take it off him and the fact that at 15 he couldn't give monkeys towards anyone or anything . | |
