QPR v Spurs (Match Thread) 13:37 - Jul 20 with 16417 viewsaston_hoop

Thought I'd start one, see if I can find some form in pre-season ahead of starting match threads for the coming season.

Can Celar play today?

First off get the moany old git part finished....never ever ever play at loftus road not in hoops....took me an to work out who to support.
I'm pretty meh about pre season games but really enjoying this one even though we are one down. Getting the goal over with, total class............Bissouma is without doubt the best player on the park so far........now we are giving the Spurs a run out, think as as thank you they could give him to us on a season loan
As for us well I like the keeper, great distribution and 2 good saves. But also as it's quite quiet here you can hear him giving orders, a good buy
Was a bit of a shock that Dunne was made captain I thought that Cook had that hands down. As for Cook what a defender! Hopefully we can keep him fit for the most of the season .
Spurs though a great high press and we have dealt with it pretty well. Midfield I think we are looking a little light with Sam and Illy but any midfield that is opposing Bisouma is going to struggle.
Smyth as looked good in patches and Kolli is not looking out of place which is a good thing.
Only real issue for me is Frey............not held it up really well or imposed himself.........but give the benefit here
All in all most enjoyable................

In Freys defence he has won the ball several times in tight spots, laid off the ball for Kolli's effort and put it in the net once.

He's against Spurs here so not seeing it as that bad.

Frey nets, but gets called offside. 50/50 for me

I think Paal & Frey were offside

That half was far better than most pre season friendlies.

I'm getting tempted to go to the Brighton match!

Liking the cut of Kolli's jib

Always said his jib was his best feature.

The replays are terrible but I suspect Paal was in fact offside but have a feeling it was Frey that got flagged.

Kolli has impressed me. Has good strength and holds the ball up nicely. Needs to learn to go on the outside rather than always cut inside. Lovely effort that was tipped onto the bar.

I know it was a Prem-class goal but Bissouma should never have been allowed to walz through like that. Colback standing with his hands on hips. Missing the Shield.

Two great saves from Nardi and impressed how calm he looks with the ball. Need to have the players who are confident to play out from the back if that's what we're going to do.

Really good workout against a shiny Prem side, with lots to encourage us. Kolli looking like a real player and unlucky not to score with a top-draw curler, Dixon-Bonner showing well, and Smyth making me eat my recent mealy-mouthed words about his lack of quality. Clarke-Salter has been stylish and composed, Cook is cooking, and Frey looks a lot more credible up top, albeit still a bit ungainly for a professional footballer to my eyes.

Post-Begovic, Nardi is an amazingly youthful sight for sore eyes, and has made a couple of smart/brave stops on his debut.

Only Colback initially looked to me annoyingly off the pace, but has improved somewhat as the game went on.

Chair's absence is concerning.

They've had the better chances, and been a bit more slick, so 0-1 isn 't an unfair reflection, but we can still get back into it, though I fear they may ease us out of it as the game goes on.

Main gripe (so I feel like myself): What the feck is going on with the lack of hoops? (And I still miss Nick London - the new guy just sounds like a bland kid.)

Was Spence the player Warnock didn’t get on with at Boro? He looks like he could play in a lower prem side…

Yeah it's 2-0, but it's actually been pretty encouraging from us considering the opposition. Definitely held our own
