<< Transition arrangements have been incorporated in respect of a Club’s squad salary cap calculation with the key element of these aimed at addressing committed contracts and relegated Clubs. Any contract entered into on or prior to today’s vote will be capped at an agreed divisional average until that contract expires. Moving forwards, Clubs that are relegated will be permitted to cap all contracts at the divisional average prior to the Club’s relegation until those contracts expire.>>

Which explains why some clubs have got so much business done already.

As I understand it any deals already negotiated will be deemed to be at a rate of £1600 per week.
Smart work if, like Bolton, you've signed a fullteam already.

So no getting round it by giving players fine wines and pork bellies then.

I have no idea about our usual wage budget, but is it anywhere near £2.5m?

It's not a cap per player, though

So you could pay one player £10k a week, but in L1 that'd mean less than £2m for the rest of your squad, which (for a squad of say, 20) would work out at around £2k a week for the rest (inclusive of fees/agents, etc.)

I doubt it’ll be anywhere near that this coming year, but at least it narrows the gulf between us and Sunderland and the like.

No but it sounds like their FFP or whatever is also under review probably unlikely to be a cap but we'll see.
