Great performance from Bailey today. If he had been available for the whole season we would have won this league while still in second gear. Dane Vilas has been outstanding this season as well. Like every team next season we need an opening bat who can regularly get through the first change and take 20 overs of the new ball. Mind, if we did get one, England would take him on a central contract in a flash. Would Atherton come out of retirement!!!

I’ve been watching this on and off today and as much as you have to tip your hat to Simpson for a fine innings, he was too easily backed up. Definitely looks a case of foot-off-the-gas syndrome.
Unless we get another centurion this innings I can see a first defeat of the season coming. A real shame, as Middlesex have been rank this season.
But with Davies gone and night watchman Mahmood in, its looking iffy already. | |

It would be great to have an unbeaten season so in this instance I think not losing is more important than winning. Keep batting until there is virtually no chance of a win for Middlesex. 150 ahead now with 7 wickets left so if we can get to the middle of the morning session tomorrow perhaps we could declare & still have a reasonable chance of the win ( or a huge slog after tea today and leave 3 sessions) |  | | |
