Done. Just popped up on SSN

Shame, he'd have been good for us. The sort of player I'd rather have on our side than playing for one of our rivals.

How much do you think this has cost Norwich in total - for a 29 year old?

£9m headline?
+5% player signing on fee = £450k?
+5% agents fee = £450k?

Total = circa £10m

Wages £50k a week? = £2.5m a year

Would he receive a 3 or 4 year contract at 29? A 4 year contract is £10m commitment.

In the context that:-

1. clubs like us and Norwich only have between £25m and £30m a year to spend on players (excluding wages); and
2. Norwich made a few signings in lat summer's transfer window
3. Norwich haven't made profit on player sales like we have done with regards to Bony and Shelvey

......then has Delia underwritten this signing - should Norwich get relegated. All fine if they stay up as next year's TV money will then pay for it?

If Norwich go down, they could have real financial problems, they are banking everything on staying upwards

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

That's the exact opposite of what we should be doing.

There are parallels with our position now, as they made a big profit in season they we're relegated and pissed off a lot of fans. They bounced back up partly because they had enough in the pot to keep bulk of their squad together. They also have a lot more commercial / match day income than us so don't have quite our dependency on TV money to pay the wages, so can probably take more risk considering the TV income next year. I still think they'll go down.

True.

I hope we're prepared to spend on the best quality we can afford.

The transfer window is always something of a gamble as you're wanting new recruits to hit the ground running and Norwich will be hoping he has an instant impact.
