Alex Oxlade Chamberlain Move Held Up As Compensation Not Agreed
Thursday, 8th Aug 2024 18:15

According to the media in Turkey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to sign or Southampton from Beiktas, but before he does so, he wants a compensation payment from the Turkish club to cancel his contract.

sportwitness.co,uk is reporting that Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is on the verge of a move back to his first club Southampton, 13 years after leaving.

Besiktas are happy to let him leave, they want to get his wages off the books, However, Oxlade- Chamberlain has responded by asking for a year of his salary as compensation if he agrees to terminate his contract. He reportedly earns £2.25 million a season, or to but it in easier terms about £45 k a week.

The report states that Oxlade-Chamberlain received a signing on bonus of about £1.2 million, after signing on a free transfer last summer, the player wants to return to St Mary's, but first a middle ground needs to be found between the player and his current club.

In the Turkish Super League last season AOC made 20 appearances totalling 994 minutes, scoring 4 goals plus 1 assist.

Oxlade-Chamberlain who will turn 31 next week, started his time in Istanbul well, in his first 14 games he scored those 4 goals and the assist, but then a torn thigh muscle interrupted his season and in his 6 games after his return he struggled to regain his form

Besiktas are under pressure to reduce the wage bill and would like to get AOC who is under contract for a further two seasons off the books, but it seems that he won't go cheaply.

Better hire some more staff for the treatment room if this one goes through.

First Stewart then Lallana and now The Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Rickie Lambert next ?

45k a week for 10 games.(99 mins per game these days) no wonder they want him off their books particularly at his age and with his history of injuries. No doubting his ability but if things are tight in the bank then whatever wage we are offering might be better invested elsewhere. At the moment we’re a weaker squad than we were 6 months ago due to losses in midfield and attack compared to who we’ve brought in so far in terms of numbers. And we’re still a keeper short.

I'll sit in the treatment room for 10K a week and we can save some money?

Lets hope it's permanently held up. We don't want or need a money grabbing sick note.
