Saints Linked With Another Raid On Celtic Friday, 23rd Dec 2022 08:43 If Southampton fans used to moan about Liverpool stealing all their players, then Celtic supporters must be fed up with Saints as yet another of their players is linked with a move to St Mary's. The latest Celtic player in the rumour mill is Israeli international Liel Abada. Abada who only turned 21 a couple of months ago joined the Scottish club in the summer of 2021 from his home town team Petach Tikva for 4 million euros and his value has doubled in the last 18 months. He is primarily a wide player, although he has also played as a centre forward, but at only 5ft 6 inches he is hardly going to be dominant in the air and if he plays there is reliant on running the channels. His first season saw him score 10 times in 36 SPL games and this season he has already scored 7 goals and 4 assists in just 17 games. But will he score many more is the question being asked by the Glasgow media and the rumour is he is being tracked by Southampton and may soon be joining the likes of Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster, Stuart Armstrong and Virgil van Dijk on taking the road to the South Coast. Abada seems to be the type of player that Saints look to sign these days, young and with potential and whilst this is only a rumour and not exactly a statement from Southampton FC , many Saints fans would prefer to see the club bring in an experienced striker rather than clog up the queue for the wide positions in the side Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
