Saints Set To Sign Flying Dutchman Sunday, 21st Dec 2014 12:14 Saints are set to go Dutch again and sign a flying winger from Werner Bremen when the transfer window opens in January. Reports in the media are saying that Saints have agreed a fee with Werner Bremen for Dutch winger Eljero Elia when the transfer window opens in just over a week. Elias is 27 and has played in Holland for Den Haag and FC Twente before moving to Hamburg and Juventus, in Italy though his career stalled and he played only 4 times in his one season and then joined Werner Bremen. His first season was a success although he was suspended at the end of it after being caught racing with a teammate on an Autobahn at 3am in the morning. 2013/14 saw his return to form complete playing 33 timed and scoring 4 times. Elias has played 27 times for Holland scoring twice although his international career has stalled since his year at Juventus and he has not yet managed to force his way back into the squad, however at age 27 and several Dutch stars at the end of their International career he would hope to get back in the squad and a move to the Premier league would help put him back into the spotlight. Saints are reported to have agreed a fee of around £4 million for the player roughly the same fee that Werner Bremen paid for Elias.
