Massimo's man Milanic moves closer to Leeds move? Sunday, 21st Sep 2014 11:18 Leeds are expected to unveil Darko Milanic as their new head coach either today or tomorrow. The 46-year old who is presently with Sturm Graz is expected to meet Massimo Cellino today, with the Austrian club admitting on their website he is destined for talks with Leeds with their blessing. The cynic in me is saying that Sturm Graz are happy to give their blessing because so far Milanic hasn't achieved the kind of success he enjoyed in his native Slovenia with Maribor. Milanic is also believed to have a clause in his contract enabling him to buy-out the remainder of the three-year deal he agreed in June last year so the Austrian side would receive compensation from his departure. Obviously he is something of an unknown quantity to Leeds fans and part of me feels that Neil Redfearn should be given the job following our surge up the table! My reservations however are that should Redfearn fail with the first-team he would be lost as a servant to the club permanently, however he seems to be held in high-regard with our eccentric Sardinian owner and could they not strike a deal whereby Redders can return to his academy job if results on the park aren't that great? It could be argued that Milanic knows less about English football than his predecessor Dave Hockaday who had a reasonably robust cv as a coach if not the top man. If Massimo does get his man then time will tell whether or not the Slovenian turns out to be a watermelon?
