Blades Are Taking The Micky Thursday, 30th Dec 2010 11:54 by portvale4ever So there we go. After all the 'will he won't he' speculation that has followed the departure of Gary Speed from Bramhall Lane we finally now know that Micky Adams has officially been offered the job as Manager of Sheffield Utd. I am gutted. Totally gutted. Despondent, depressed, dejected, miserable, inconsolable. In short, in the grip of a deep and disturbing melancholy from which I can see no escape. We should, of course, celebrate what Micky has achieved in his 18 months at Vale Park. Not only did he halt the alarming slide that the Sinnott/Glover years produced, he also moulded us into a fearsome promotion-chasing outfit. He cleared out all the deadwood, tightened up the defence and brought some creativity into midfield. When Micky arrived in May 2009 we had just finished a pitiful 17th in League 2, he leaves us sitting 2nd in the league, despite two defeats in our last two games. He has worked wonders at Vale Park. Are we now staring into the abyss? Will our season fall apart horrendously? Will we plummet back down to the depths of League 2? Sadly, this may well be the case. We have an incompentent Board who will doubtlessly a) fail to negotiate a reasonable compensation deal with Sheff Utd, and b) will take the cheapest option with regards to replacing Adams. Why have they turned down the much needed investment offered from Mike Newton and Mo Chaudry? What a crackbrained, imbecilic, witless bunch of half-heads they truly are! On New Years Day we travel to Rotherham in search of a much needed moral-boosting victory after losing our last two games, and, it seems our Manager. 2011 looks like being a very interesting year at Vale Park...
