Whilst we were on Premier League duty on Sunday our women's team went to Havant to play Pompey and racked up another convincing win, this time in the cup 4-0 |

Ironically the song that namechecked Mick Channon has some good lyrics, but it is a Liverpool song although copied by a few clubs, Saints are about 8 years too late to start singing it. The Scousers must have been p***ing themselves on Sunday at our plagiarism |

Ironically as Pompey regularly f***ed up in the mid to late 90's and then again in the last 12 years, they ramped up the noise and spent whole matches singing songs to become the self proclaimed best supporters in the World. Anyone can sing their hearts out for the lads when their team is winning games, but it is when the team isnt winning that you find out how good the fans are. Our away support is very good, looking from the Kingsland it seems that the Northam is spread around, you have the original Northam enders to the left, a few who want to sing in the centre and the rest seem to be bemused bystanders who went in there for the atmosphere, but don't seem to realise that it has to be created by them |

Did Tall Paul have a touch in the opposition box ? He had a battling game in the centre circle , that isn't his fault, his style isn't suited to Russell Martin's game, but he is a striker who has barely had a touch in the opposition box let alone a shot in his appearances so far. Ugochukwu for Tall Paul was almost like for like given he was basically a central midfielder for large part of the match |

For 90% of the game he was pretty solid he made 8 saves, some of them pretty decent, but was found wanting at two crucial moments, ie suicidal roll out for the first goal and mis timing for the second. He seemed to be at sea at times in the second half coming for crosses. Discuss |

1. The Red Wall - this has backfired on us our fans need the away fans to bounce off and that is not happening so there were large gaps of silence from the Northam End, dare I say it we need a drum and a group of ultras willing to keep going throughout the game. 2. Onuachu, showed a lot of battle, but when does he actually get the ball in the box, not his fault, but he is dropping deeper and deeper to get the ball, we need him up front, but we are never going to give him the ball so why play him, not a criticism of the player but our tactics. 3. £6.10 for 4.1% lager, ok you get 10% off for a while before kick off but that is robbery. 4. Didn't see any evidence of Liverpool fans in home areas, anyone see any incidents though. 5. We could win the cup game, |

Their have been some great fixtures both at the Dell & St Mary's in the past, who can remember some of them. The 4-2 game in October 1989 springs to mind, 4-1 to Saints when Liverpool were at the peak of their powers. Likewise Valentines Day 1994 when in the snow we beat them 4-2. August 2000 when 3-0 down with 17 minutes to go we came back to draw 3-3 was another memorable game. Who can remember these and what other games were classics |

That is the whole point about stadium expansion, you have to spend a lot of money in doing it, so you need to be able to fill it week in week out regardless of results. Whether the team is doing well should not be a reason for building a stadium, you have to consider what crowds will be like if we are not doing well. Middlesbrough and Sunderland both expanded their stadiums and in their last spells in the Premier League rarely filled the increased capacity's Yes for those turning out week in week out paying out for a cup game might be a step too far, but that is when you find out the appetite in the rest of the data base and there seems to be little showing at the moment. As it stands only around 18,000 Saints supporters have bought tickets for this one so far |
| Forum Reply | Does Shea Charles Prove That Russell Martin's Player Judgement is Flawed at 11:06 20 Nov 2024
Whilst the club has people in the recruitment department who identify potential targets, it is the manager who will have the final say, even SFC realise that there is no point in buying a player unless the manager is going to play him. The point of the article was about Martin's ability to work with the squad that he has to hand, rather than whether he is good in the transfer market. |

Spot on, that is what I have been saying for a long while, Martin's problem is that he cannot accept this and adapt the style to suit his squad

Those that travel from distance have a genuine excuse for not making a long journey in midweek, but the reality is that a very large proportion of our regular home support comes from a radius of around 40-50 miles. So if you add on those that can't get tickets etc on the data base we probably have another 30,000 people who are not regular fans, that should mean that for a game like this we should not have a problem selling out. Games like this with the prevalent attitude being that things are c*** so I'm not going, show why St Mary's has never been expanded in almost 24 years of it's existence. To be blunt our support is just too fickle, if those fans that purport to be die hard loyals and have season tickets and go to away games can just turn their back, what hope have we of increasing our fan base and expanding the stadium. There has been a lot of moaning of late about the manager, but what has actually been done aside from individuals moaning about it on the internet. The answer is absolute zero, I have said this several times over the years, but if someone is so concerned about the manager and the owners, then why don't they do something tangible and actually organise a protest. If those that are going to boycott the game turned up and protested outside, then that would send a big message, but for most in this modern day and age, that is actually too much effort. Of course I would not expect those living outside the area to turn up and do this, but if we can't raise a few hundred people from a 50-60,000 database to do this it tells you something |

Whilst I do agree with a lot you are saying, the fact is that the cup game is a one off match and you never know could go either way and we could find ourselves in a cup semi final. This is one game when it might not be boring |
| Forum Reply | Liverpool Cup Tickets at 21:38 19 Nov 2024
So last season was boring because we were unbeaten and passing it around but winning and this season is boring because we are getting beaten. |
