Maybe our LA friends can advise but I guess this must be down to cutbacks and mismanagement? As others have said, the climate situation is a known issue so how have this been allowed to be so bad? Or have we hit a tipping point where we just can’t cope? |

Ord, that's the one. Poor guy. Was a good buy then that was that. |

Ned "versatile as an egg" Zelic? Didn't we buy a footballer from Sunderland Richard Orr or something like that, who played one game then got injured and that was that. Career over. |

Don't want to go too much off tangent here (sorry if I have Clive and I'll edit/delete what I've written) but the costs to rebuild will be astronomical and as well as the pressure it will put on insurance companies and policy renewal prices, I'm sure there will be huge pressure on the government to stop financing things like the war in Ukraine and divert the funds internally. I suspect Trump intends to pull the plug anyway but this will just make that decision easier to make and for the US citizens (for those who don't want that to happen) to accept. Zelensky will have to yield, they'll lose the Donbass for good and Putin will claim a Russian victory and milk it for all he can. |
| Forum Reply | The 'most exits in the third round' record that we hold. at 11:13 10 Jan 2025
I don't think it's "3rd round" as such but more a case of the most exits at the first attempt so in our 3rd League tier days in the early noughties we'd be in the first round and if we went out, that would count. |

"Having gone through this thread the most shocking thing is nobody has blamed climate change (yet) for this." Possibly because climate change is probably nothing to with what has happened, hence why no one has mentioned it. I think (hope!) that even any conspiracist theorists can see this! Wild fires around LA are a regular occurrence particularly with the Santa Anas winds. Basically, they know about this and have done for probably centuries. As recently as 2017/2018 they had the Thomas fire, Creek fire and Rye fire. So they know all about them. This is more than likely about cut backs and mismanagement than anything else. Jose Mourinho seems the most likely candidate now. |

I don't think anyone is disagreeing it's over-saturated, just that an earlier comment about 'nobody cares' was probably not the best of remarks. If people are groaning about the inevitable media over-hype of the upcoming US inauguration, well, just don't watch it. |

5th round? Is that some kind of neo columnist organisation kind of thing? Never heard of it myself. |

It is pretty shocking and I think a lot of houses are built of wood, as opposed to brick, so would have gone up in flames like tinder-sticks. We have one of our major head offices in Santa Monica so there is concern here for our colleagues who work there. Thankfully it's been reported this morning none of the staff (and family & friends) are affected so that was good to hear. If anyone thinks anything in particular is oversaturated on media platforms (and it may well be), there are others things one can do.... read a book, watch a film, watch another channel, go for a walk, have a wnk..... | Forum Reply | We might just make it to round four of the FA cup at 07:53 9 Jan 2025
With Leicester second from bottom and five straight league defeats maybe they might play their second XI. Worst case scenario is they play their full team, lose and have players suspended or injured. I know i said on another thread that players can get injured in any match but it makes sense in this case for Leicester to play a weakened team, and for us to play a full strength team if we have any chance of being in the hat for round 4. Luton fans last night saying how they should have spent better in the PL. What does that actually get you though?.... Perpetual 17th and all you are doing is getting money to keep buying players & their obscene salaries to keep you.... 17th. Repeat. Waste of time. All that is happening is the income from the PL is going straight to the players (and agents) leaving nothing left for anything else. I actually think they made the right choice by the looks of it. Buy some players and don't do a Southampton. They did make quite a decent fist of things on the most part and were 2 wins and a draw from safety. Most of their defeats were generally by a goal or two. Southampton have shipped 5 goals three times already so far and are on course to have one of the worst PL seasons of any club in recent history. Looks like they've decided to use the money to finish off the new stadium which it totally the right thing to do. |
