Avoidable goals stat
at 13:28 22 Sep 2024

The owners will probably only realise something is wrong if the gates fall off a cliff.
I doubt if they’d act on opinions on here. How many users are on this message board on average every week? Thirty perhaps, out of 2000 season ticket holders.
And when every fans forum turns into a mutual admiration society for the coach then alarm bells aren’t going to ring.

This style of playing at the back in ingrained in Academy football these days. I bet you couldn’t find an “old school” centre half anywhere unless it was a gnarled veteran defender.
The likes of Sassi have been indoctrinated and don’t know any other way of playing.

I don’t see the attraction in this competition?
It won’t be lucrative and BJ wasn’t too long ago talking about fixture overcrowding.

Are these the under 21 teams of Premiership clubs as in the EFL Trophy?

Beech sacked
at 21:59 17 Sep 2024

Not sure who’s in charge now that Beech has gone but they’ve beaten Southend tonight.
The match was postponed originally after Southend had travel difficulties on the railway line from Euston.
Apparently their coach driver tonight has allegedly been arrested for flying a drone!

Solihull are bigger and stronger so far. Well organised too with the most animated manager I’ve seen in ages.

Are schools the only means of distributing free tickets.
Different sport I know but a few years ago Bradford Bulls undertook an aggressive marketing campaign by flooding neighbouring towns such as Halifax and Huddersfield with free tickets.
They were even leaving them under windscreen wipers at places like supermarkets and walking up and down shopping precincts handing them out.

Having said and agreed with all the above the best way of filling the away stand this season is a traditional one.
Win the qualifying round in the FA Cup and draw a team at home who would have a good away following.
I’m thinking of someone like Birmingham, Huddersfield, Bolton, Stockport.
Or even Oldham or Bury if they qualify too.

Tomorrow’s attendance will be interesting.
Let’s see how many apart from the hardcore 2000 are curious enough to come and take a look.
Excuses like holidays and school nights don’t apply. Weather forecast is reasonable too.
And I agree that any discounted ticket promotion needs to take place soon because by the end of the month we’ll have played six home games out of 23.

You could perhaps be forgiven for forgetting that Buttler is actually a Lancashire player.

Does anyone know the extent of the injury to McNicholas? If it’s long term he may as well be better back at Wrexham for treatment/rehab?

The writing is on the wall as Durham are 514 for 4 at the moment.
A lead of 286.

TONIGHTS GAME V MAIDENHEAD UTD
at 10:04 11 Sep 2024

Really good first half but doesn’t it make a difference when pressure and possession is converted into goals?
That was a great corner from Henry to find East unmarked for the first goal and he whipped over a great free kick not long after. His deliveries are first class.
Just as crucial was the save from Robson just before the break when he turned the ball onto the post.
It became a tactical battle in the second half and Maidenhead really caused some problems down their left hand side. Plenty of options on the bench to make changes these days though.
The air of obvious disappointment when they scored was evident off the pitch and on the terraces. Clean sheets have become a matter of pride!
I thought the attendance was encouraging as well. A Tuesday night with England live on TV didn’t see a drop in gate compared to recent Saturdays which hasn’t always been the case.
And it was great to see so many youngsters in the Sandy (by that I mean under 20s). It reminded me so much of my generation 50 odd years ago. Hopefully they’ll be hooked for life just as we were!

Makes a lot of sense to filter it that way.
He’s basically lobby fodder to be fair and him voting against it wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the vote.
Would take something cataclysmic to overturn that Labour majority and Starmer and Reeves know that.
As a pensioner myself I can just about stand losing the allowance - at the moment.
If the government continued to whittle away at things like bus passes and free prescriptions though I’d be fuming.
