Yes, the dreaded month is back, rivalled only by dry January.
Mind you, I only drink twice a week these days - Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday.

I forgot this was a thing but I'm giving it a go this month.

I'm going for it as well. Never done one of these, but I really need to train hard this winter so this might be the spur I need.

id encourage as many people to give up booze, after only a week of not drinking you'll notice a difference. a month a HUGE difference. so many benefits. more energy, better deeper sleep, better skin, weight loss, more money in your pocket! I gave up for a year, now just drink on special occasions. do it

I stopped 7 September and want to go until at least the start of the Rugby Autumn Nations. Also cut out Coke Zero which I used to drink quite often during the week. Now just have water and the odd tea and coffee.

Definitely noticed improved sleep, some really strange dreams in the first couple of weeks.

I used to give up alcohol for 6 weeks at a stretch each year. It's a good thing to do, particularly if you feel the need to get a grip on your drinking. These days I keep drinking at home to a minimum and just imbibe at games or when out with friends.

Hope so. Thankfully sleep is not an issue from what you mention below.

I'm not a big drinker by any means (and it's good the AF beer offering is so much better these days) so I'm hoping it will help.

I was never a big drinker but once my son was born (almost 10 years ago now, gulp!) I pretty much stopped. One or two bottles (330ml, not 5L!) a week, usually a low-ish %abv too. Sometimes none.

Don't smoke either and I know people same age as me who do both regularly and look 10-20 years older.
They really do cause a lot of damage.

Stopped drinking pretty much about 12 years ago. I have the odd beer and glass of wine but can go months without a drink. I do drink on holiday but I don't like feeling drunk so rarely in excess. I do know some good people whose lives have been ruined by drink and others who recognised they were addicted and have managed to stop.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end
