I hope I'm not alone in thinking this statement is absolutely brilliant.

Excellent. Sets out succinctly what he wants and what he stands for and that he won't stand for what happened in the past. An opening statement full of promise.

Good. I think we are going to have to put our hands in our pockets and buy some shares!
I think Simon's involvement at the Cricket and Lacrosse Club is a good thing too bearing in mind its the nearest thing to a training pitch that we have at the moment.
He has a big job, rebuilding trust and support , sorting out finances, building a new team and showing some badly needed leadership. I wish him well.

Am I right in saying there was a fourth candidate that we haven't heard about yet?

At least he's changed his Twitter profile so that it no longer reads "Director of Rochdale Athletic Football Club"

Hope he does a good job.

Four new Directors put themselves forward for consideration and three have been EFL approved and appointed to the board (maybe the 4th too but I missed it). AK wanted to stand down as Chairman and Simon seems to have emerged as the best man for the job as voted at the Board meeting.

I think the 4th name mentioned by Graham Morris was Jonathon Whitworth

Are you having a stab at it R17ALE? I'm sure it would be a popular appointment amongst your fellow supporters.

Delighted with this news. Only heard good things about Simon and I wish him nothing but the best of luck in his new role. Change for the good is finally happening after the shite we’ve had to put up with over the last few years and I for one am now looking forward to OUR club hopefully regaining its reputation as a bloody decent one.

Not just now. Think there's enough new blood coming in.

I'll certainly be buying shares though, as I hope all fans who can, do.

Ps… pleased with the appointment, wonder if he is a poster on here?

I really hope the board are able to formulate a share issue where those wishing to buy smaller numbers of shares are accommodated first. Then those seeking to buy the most are able to take up the remaining shares. If it is oversubscribed those asking for the most shares should have their allocation cut.
Let’s see. In any events it doesn’t sound as though it can be as shambolic as the last effort to generate investment.

15 days post AGM/EGM and the first shoots of welcome and much needed change can be seen.

Wishing Messers Gauge, Sarsfield and Knight good fortune as they embark on their Dale leadership careers and in joining a Board that has a number of serious issues to solve at the club.

What happened on the evening 1 June 2021 will go down in the history of this club for many years to come and to the many, many shareholders who acted positively and proactively demonstrate the importance of fan ownership and fan action in defining the future of their club. Football without fans is nothing.

The many people who have acted and stepped forward, quietly and diligently, are to be applauded and they've managed change without with either a handcuff or drainpipe being in sight!

When the true story of what's been going on comes out, our favourite author Mark Hodkinson will be able to release a blockbuster.

The fans don't know we were days away from being sold to Martin Halsall aka Stuart Day.

The fans worked very hard to prevent that, successfully.

All those that were for this motion will be slain, by the fans.

I remember taking stock during that 5 hour marathon event thinking to myself, this is a moment that all Dale fans will look back on with a sheer amount of pride.

We all wish the new Chairman our best wishes in his new role. Let's hope he can galvanise the new Board and get us all focussed in one direction

For me he has a short time to get his plans in place and then we need to create a new Team Rochdale with clarity around budgets, player contracts, ambitions, and why fans should buy into season cards and other commercial opportunities. If they need a big rise in income they need to be clear on why the fans need to rally round and put their hands in their pocket.

New share issue is great, but we all know that this will be seen as a gift, as there will be no dividends or share price growth. It is our way to own a little bit of the club. For lots of people to get onboard, there needs to be a plan

Would it be possible to suggest that we move away from the ‘Team Rochdale’ branding as it never really was.

‘Our Rochdale’ might work better.

I’m not hashtagging it though.

Wow! Absolutely unforgivable. Those responsible for taking us to the brink should be banned from Spotland for life.

As for yourself, R17ALE and all those others who put in some serious legwork to help achieve this result, we will be forever in your debt. 👏👏

I'm now waiting with bated breath to hear the news that the CEO has been suspended and/or placed on gardening leave pending disciplinary investigations.
Am I too optimistic to think that this could happen before close of play tomorrow?
He certainly needs to be reined in and steps taken to ensure that any further damage that he can do is minimal.

100% agree. This should have happened a long time ago when it was apparent that matters needed investigating.

No need for any further delay now as the club move forward into a new era. All stains need to be removed.

Whilst we're here, can we also refrain from using "Dale Family" ?

Of course, Dale can and should be a club that welcomes families and focuses certain activities around their specific needs, such as the play area in the Pearl St bar, family tickets, Desmond, fun days in the carpark etc.

Using the slogan is therefore unnecessary and reeks of trying too hard to convince, not to mention the old regime

And, can anyone clear up how Simon's last name is pronounced?

The word "gauge" - as in "gauge the distance" - is normally pronounced like "gage" in "engage"

I've heard his name pronounced more like "gorge"
