Albert Einstein: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Being that Socrates never wrote any books, all his quotes are direct, and Plato characterizes Socrates as describing his opponents’ positions as slanderous, and gives his own quote on what he had said.

'Therefore, as I said when I began, it would be a wonder to me if I should be able in this short time to take away from you this slander which has become so great. This is the truth for you, men of Athens; I am hiding nothing from you either great or small in my speech, nor am I holding anything back. And yet I know rather well that I incur hatred by these very things; which is also a proof that I speak the truth, and that this is the slander against me, and that these are its causes. Whether you investigate these things now or later, you will discover that this is so. So about the things which the first accusers accused me of, let this be a sufficient defense speech before you'.

Therefore, this has been shortened to the quote above, and may be the exact quote by Socrates.

Anyone who quotes Clinton Cards certainly won't win this years Einstein Award.

All the opinions expressed above are based on facts.

For instance, on appearances, 3 out of the top 5 are Pompey lads. That isn't spin, it's fact.

Have you ever arrived at Portsmouth harbour on a cross continental ferry and seen the number of passengers get up and have a look around. I've been on the Red Funnel Ferry and never seen anything comparable.

There are only 2 stadiums left in the south of England that have seen winning seasons in England. If St Mary's got flattened, it wouldn't bother your fans that much, you'd be looking forward to going to a new stadium.

The cricket ground in Pompey is in a much more interesting location than Hedgend. When Hampshire or England win something big at Hedgend, it might change. This one is more subjective than the other 2 I agree, but the other 2 are stonewall facts.

I cant speak for the entire population pal, it's a subjective question.

What defines interesting? What is the interest or background of the visitor? What are there interests? Very difficult to answer.

Big day for Winchester born Donny Ings tomorrow, he will make his 100th PL appearance.

Even if he doesn't score he will be on 36 goals scored, so I will consider putting him in the top 50 Hampshire players. 36 in 100 games isn't bad tbf.

Who to leave out? I'm probably going to leave out Albert Mundy, Brighton's 2nd highest goal-scorer of all time.

He certainly isn't very good at banter, but I admire his spirit and positivity

Poll: Is Southampton FC a big club. Where do they rank?

Donny Ings get 100 top flight appearances, that is a good milestone, he is getting closer to the top 55, that is for sure. His 36 goals are an impressive haul ie 0.36 goals per game.

I know he's not from Southampton, or even greater Soton, but he is a local lad. Comparisons with past local lads is interesting

0.33 Johnny Gordon 102 goals in 333 games
0.39 Martin Chivers 149 goals in 378 games
0.41 Peter Harris 193 goals in 486 games
0.42 Bobby Tambling 142 goals in 340 games
0.58 Ray Crawford 130 goals in 225 games

Amazingly, a Soton lad tops the list, but he was lucky enough to join the top club in the country at the right time, then not see his rate lip down due to age, and all of this because of the outbreak of WW2. ie The World War made him look a lot better than he was.

The 100 club, 4-2 to Pompey, as Tom Jones would say, "It's not unusual"

I've got two players who played when there wasn't a top flight, but went to 2 or 3 cup finals, and another who stayed in the southern league for a while, but still went to 2 cup finals, before moving into the top league.

Pretty consistent stuff, maybe Surman should have made the list, however, he never played for big clubs himself, unlike say Kit Symons.
