Deadline day.... 21:38 - Jan 28 with 13698 viewsJonathans_coat

Potentially another shocker.

Rumoured “outs”

Fer - Lille/Fenerbahçe: £2.5m
James - Leeds: £6-10m
Bony - Galatasaray/Al Sadd: £???m (free?)
Narsingh - AEK: £???m
(Dyer, Routledge, Montero also possibles)

Rumoured “ins”

King - Leicester: loan
(Shankland possible)

Forgive me if I am not filled with enthusiasm.

Fer is certainly playing like he wants a move, it says a lot about his recent upturn in form.

Hope he stays but at the same time we all know the club is going to cut us to the bone .

It is what it is, you greedy bar stewards get out if our club.

Anybody who couldn’t see this sh1tstorm hitting us eventually as soon as the Yanks’ ‘true intentions’ and ZERO investment since 2016 became abundantly clear, coupled with Judas Jenkins remaining in situ on his £600k pa salary PLUS Pearlman on £500k+ was either incredibly naive and taken in by the bullsh1t which was served up by both the Sellouts and the Yanks or who simply ‘chose’ to ignore it.

It was a really, really difficult decision for me, my two sons and my old man in March 2018 for us NOT to renew our Season Tickets for this current season given that me & my old man have been season ticket holders since the late 1970’s and I took both my sons to the Vetch as soon as they could walk !

It now appears to be that the current ‘Regime’ will strip bare all available assets with any sort of intrinsic value and eventually ‘move on’ once every last $$$$ has been screwed out of OUR Club.

Sad times all around, I was there in 1985 with the High Court winding up order etc and again in 2003 with our successful stand against Petty.

Yet this time around I believe we have been screwed over both from the outside (the Yanks) as well as a cute ‘inside job’ on behalf of the (By the Fans for the Fans ) Sellouts who lined their own pockets without a second thought for the consequences for ‘the Club they loved’

Simply repulsive yet they have skins like Rhinos and absolutely ZERO conscience whatsoever ....

My reading of the situation mirrors yours, when there is no value to be had they will move on, these people are money men no more no less.
Where we'll be at that time only time will tell.

How Jenkins can keep turning up I'll never know.

I love you two guys but come on mun. If they were selling Celina, Roberts, Rodon, Mulder, Horn, Fulton, and McBurnie, all of whom have a value then ok, they are paring us to the bone. They are getting 6 to 10m for a bloke who is still a huge, massive gamble and getting shot of a high earning mostly carthorse that will have no value in four months when we are rebuilding and solidly mid table. We already have a substitute winger (James actual role under Potter, rather than this imagined world beating one) in Montero and I think if we could have got shot of him we might have kept DJ. Maybe not given what Leeds have offered.

I wish we could keep DJ, and Fer actually, if we get no one else, but the sky isn’t falling in because of these decisions. They are entirely defendable as rational even if you’d personally make different ones.

Like when they spent a stupid amount of money last season, haven't paid out dividends on profits etc.?

If they're asset-strippers they're awful at it tbf.

Perhaps they have not paid a dividend because then the Trust gets a share?!

That would be a bonkers reason to turn their noses up at 60% of a big dividend payment, if their number one goal is making as much money as possible asap.

If they're asset-stripping then they could get that money back off the trust when they sell their shares when we're in League One or Two.

Horseschitt.

What is bonkers is the fact that they are breaking UK law and not letting the Trust see the accounts. When they are forced to allow access to the Trust then we can say whether or not that they are asset strippers.

Google says UK companies have a statutory obligation to provide its shareholders with full annual accounts, does that apply to monthly management accounts as well?

Shame on you to not renew the season tickets. Bottom line is tho we have been punching above our weight for a while. We could never sustain it. Little Swansea paying £80k week to players. Where the money come from. Never mind we don’t need plastics like you . We need proper fans through thick and thin. 😁

I'd willingly accept exits from both Ayews, Bony &/or Narsingh - even if that brought in no money just saved wages.

Can understand Fer wanting certainty at his age & with only 6 months left on his contract, so if we've made limited effort with his people (despite him being our captain) & Lille or Fenerbache are keen I get it & would probably prefer a small fee now + freed up wages now rather than he signs a contract elsewhere for next season & stays with us until May.

The concerning ones would be James or VDH - can just about get the £10M being very difficult to turn down but either would hurt & both would potentially put Potter in an untenable position.

Not expecting anyone in unless most of the above exit - we are clearly still in survival mode - we probably only need another 10 points to retain Championship retention & potentially could make the FA Cup qtr finals. I'm not expecting any meaningful attempt at promotion unless we either exit all premiership wages players &/or we get an ownership change.

They'd have to be big consultancy fees to justify spending £60m on shares in a football club. A few £600k salaries like Jenkins and Pearlman were/are getting (who are themselves obviously not the hedge fund) is going to take a long time to reap a meaningful return. And the club still turned a significant profit that first season.

The trust saw the monthly management accounts up to June/July/relegation iirc. I don't know what their confidentiality situation is but there hasn't bee any uproar about but dodgy withdrawals last season, either.

Maybe they've started harvesting millions this year, then? In a season when our revenue has dropped from £120m to £60m, and there is an immediate and obvious need to sell players and cut costs to prevent saddling the club with debt.

In the summer income drops another £20-25m, so they'll have to be quick to get a return. Their shares aren't worth much compared to when they started.

So the elephant in the room remains. Why are the management accounts being hidden from a board director and 21% shareholder?

Someone ordered some dodgy porn on the company card.

I haven't a clue. It doesn't look great, as I said when the news first came out, but it's *possible* that concerns over confidentiality were genuinely the issue. If other clubs found out how bad our finances were then they might start offering £2-3m for our best young players.

I think it’s fairly clear that we are in a terrible way financially. Because of terrible mismanagement, mostly since 2014. Also we have owners who will not put a penny in, without the knowledge that it will be coming back to them (with interest) in the extremely short term. This is because they are an “investment group” (hedge fund), and most of them don’t have any real money they can actually put in, they are not Billionaire sugar daddy owners. It’s likely their investment vehicle is more of a tax dodge than a get rich quick scheme anyway!

I’m not saying there hasn’t been or isn’t currently any financial skullduggery occurring, because they very well may be to some degree. I think the answer to “where’s the money gone?” Is that the original £68m “investment” obviously went into Huw and other shareholder pockets, and the clubs income was/is being wasted on transfer fees and ridiculous player wages.

We are now being run as a business, with footballing success as a distant secondary concern. Some may say sensible, but surely we have to be aiming for success, or what’s the point?
2
Deadline day.... on 11:37 - Jan 29 with 1756 viewsjasper_T

We were being run as a business (or at least within our means) on our march up the leagues as well.

More and more clubs are going the other way and depending on owner philanthropy but it's still no guarantee of success on the pitch. Look at Stoke, net spend of £25m this season, no sign of cutting costs... 15th. Forest and Villa spending big but outside the playoffs.

Leeds, Norwich and Sheff Utd top. All have had to sell top youngsters and continued to develop.

Fer to Lille - I've seen £6 million mentioned. Don't want him going but a good price us and a good deal for him.
Bony - £5 million if he goes to Qatar/ free to Turkey
Narsingh - £3 million but no mention of interest anywhere
Dyer - £1.5
Routledge - free
Montero - £2 million
James - not going anywhere.

Ins - none.
