Burke

Who interestingly lost his Bristol seat in the next election after his famous 1774 statement.

There has always been a strong strand of opinion in favour of the 'trustee' model of representation vs the delegate model, but I wouldn't say it was unanimous. A.V. Dicey, probably the leading Victorian authority on British constitutional law (and quoted by the judges in the Miller case), certainly rejected the idea that in the wake of a referendum MPs should be able to fall back on this argument to reverse the result.

I think people here might be inviting you to clarify the difference between WTO terms, aka 'no deal', and .....erm....'no deal'?

A ‘deal’ can equally be construed as a FTA and a customs agreement, as both parties suggested that WTO is their preference, I think it’s pretty obvious what we voted for..unless you have an agenda?

How can links to manifestos that 80% voted for, make me ‘a fcking idiot’?

Perhaps you’re the ‘fckin idiot’ for not understanding what you voted for?

You said 80% of the electorate voted for it when only 72% actually voted in the referendum.

Dopey twàt.

Both parties absolutely did not say that though. You've made that up or you're deliberately misinterpreting both manifestos to push your own agenda.

We can't have a discussion if you're too stubborn to understand basic comprehension. There literally is no counterpoint to stuff you've made up in your own head

I voted for a coalition of chaos.

We've certainly got that, just not the one I voted for.

I’ve literally quoted pledges from both manifestos stating “we will leave the Single Market and Customs Union”..

As I’m fairly new to this forum, I suspect your views have gone unchallenged for so long that you’re actually starting to believe your delusions.

You're lying and already have zero credibility. Everything in the Labour manifesto is incompatible with leaving the EU with no deal on the 29th.

"We will scrap the Conservatives’ Brexit White Paper and replace it with fresh negotiating priorities that have a strong emphasis on retaining the benefits of the Single Market and the Customs Union — which are essential for maintaining industries, jobs and businesses in Britain. Labour will always put jobs and the economy first.

A Labour government will immediately guarantee existing rights for all EU nationals living in Britain and secure reciprocal rights for UK citizens who have chosen to make their lives in EU countries. EU nationals do not just contribute to our society: they are part of our society. And they should not be used as bargaining chips.

It is shameful that the Prime Minister rejected repeated attempts by Labour to resolve this issue before Article 50 was triggered. As a result three million EU nationals have suffered unnecessary uncertainty, as have the 1.2 million UK citizens living in the EU.

A Conservative Brexit will weaken workers’ rights, deregulate the economy, slash corporate taxes, sideline Parliament and democratic accountability, and cut Britain off from our closest allies and most important trading partners.

Labour recognises that leaving the EU with ‘no deal’ is the worst possible deal for Britain and that it would do damage to our economy and trade. We will reject ‘no deal’ as a viable option and, if needs be, negotiate transitional arrangements to avoid a ‘cliff-edge’ for the UK economy.

The issues that affect our continent now will continue to do so in the future — and Labour will continue to work constructively with the EU and other European nations on issues such as climate change, refugee crises and counter-terrorism."

Labour will reject ‘no deal’ as a viable option and they already have.

.. you have decided in your own mind that a 'deal' consists of remaining in the SM and CU.

I noticed you conveniently left this out...

Labour is committed to the rules-based international trading system of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). We will rejoin the Government Procurement Agreement, whilst safeguarding the capacity for public bodies to make procurement decisions in keeping with public policy objectives.

Because it was in the section of the manifesto marked "international trade" and not "negotiating Brexit". A labour government would not withdraw from the WTO. That's what this passage means.

This doesn't mean the Labour Party wants to leave the EU with no deal and exist solely on WTO terms. This is because no country in the world trades on WTO terms alone. On March 29th we will become the only country in the world to do so.

The Labour manifesto expressly says that:

"leaving the EU with ‘no deal’ is the worst possible deal for Britain and that it would do damage to our economy and trade. We will reject ‘no deal’ as a viable option and, if needs be, negotiate transitional arrangements to avoid a ‘cliff-edge’ for the UK economy."

Its all there, black and white, clear as crystal, saying that the Labour Party will do everything possible to avoid a no deal exit if they form a government. You lied about what the Labour party manifesto said. You've had it explained to you why you are completely wrong in your assertion. Just because another part of the mannifesto mentions WTO doesn't mean you're right in anything, so you get NOTHING! You lose! GOOD DAY, SIR!

If you're too stupid to not understand this you shouldn't be allowed out.

Does it say “retaining the benefits of..” or “remaining apart of..”, there’s a big difference?

I respect you do not support Brexit, but you’re outright fanatical in your delusions.

If I can make an attempt to wrench this thread back on topic, does anybody think the remainer tories will vote for this possible people’s vote amendment or will they play party politics not wanting to give labour political capital?
