We received 40.5 m for the sale of Siggy. we would have been mad to say no tbh. But the fact that we spent it on Clucas (15 m)/Sanches loan (7 m)/Ayew (20 m) is beyond comical. Not to forget the Bony/Llorente thing [Post edited 15 May 2018 9:11]

Ki gone on 09:09 - May 15 by Dr_Winston | Sigurdsson left a month after Cork did. We sold Cork to balance the books after signing Mesa. Shrewd deal that. |
Yeah, but looking at the bigger picture, the intention was to sell of the crown jewels and any other saleable asset (Cork) and replace with cheaper options in a punt to stay in the PL. When the deal was gotten over the line is irrelevant, the model was to sell. I not sure why this is even debatable.

Ki gone on 09:09 - May 15 by jasper_T | Now you think they didn't bid £6m? Make up your mind, it's hard to follow your argument. |
It's not hard Jasp, you're arguing for the sake of it because you know I'm right. I get it okay, I know you still have a hardon for Ki. Good for you.

Sigurdsson wanted out. That's not some evil American masterplan. That's bog standard footballery. Of course clubs in our position hope to sell high and replace cheaply. We can't afford to do things any other way.

How did they replace with cheaper options ? Mesa £13 million, Clucas £17 million, A. Ayew £20 million, Bony £12 million ? Those were all bad signings, but not cheap signings.

True..no asset stripping..just awful recruitment. But in the other hands..wouldn't have been nice if they actually bothered to throw in extra 10-15 m from their pockets (like most other clubs) for once?

No. Because then we'd be paying them interest on it too. Like most other clubs.

Only Sullivan & Gold at West Ham charge interest (the greedy porn kings). other owners at our level like Watford/Crystal Palace/West Brom etc generally don't. They actually invest in the club, push it further towards success, increase it's value, seek better commercial revenue etc..That's how it works.
