The image he posted shows an empty road with the following text:
"That we sometimes leave. And not precisely because we want to do it. We must. And do not say it's cowardly. Very brave you have to be. -Defreds-"
Hmmm, interesting. Even stranger, Viera and teammate David Simon posed like Neymar/Pique with the same infamous "se queda" (he stays) caption later that day. Pique has come out and said that he knew Neymar was leaving when he posted that. I wonder if that's happening here? This is teammate Bigas' take on it (from the second link):
"Jony looks happy, as usual. I think he's had offers but we know what he's like, he is a club man and a house-man, I have not seen anything strange, I see him as always. If it were for me, to stay here all my life."
The third link I provided refers to Viera's summer as a "soap opera" resulting from the "offensive of the Premier", and states that Viera has a "pending summit" with Las Palmas' president over his contract. That seems to have been the case for weeks now, so that is quite interesting too.
Taken altogether, I have no idea what the truth is. We'll all know in a few days, I guess. I hope it ends with Viera holding up our shirt.

"It has not been a very quiet summer, I get things from everywhere and, whether you like it or not, it comes to you. I'm very calm, focused and happy. I'm happy at UD Las Palmas. I've never had problems with Las Palmas and I never will have them. I stay or I go, I will never have them. I think there is no problem. We have spoken and we are all calm. I have a good relationship with the president, we have always gone head to head and we are at a good place. You have to be calm. People love me a lot and that's priceless."
Hmmm. One more time:
"I've never had problems with Las Palmas and I never will have them. I stay or I go, I will never have them."
Fingers crossed.

This guy is fishing for a pay rise at LP. I can't see anyone spending €25m on him - just doesnt look like he has that quality to move from where he is
I think we were interested at one stage, but a range of other targets (and his value for money) shut it down quickly.
I know you disagree Nirvana. But I'd happily put money on this guy not coming to us.

We can agree to disagree on Viera's quality, Eastern.
But, the guy has been included in many "La Liga Team of the Season" articles put out by very respected publications. He was even Sqwawka's "creative midfielder of the season" or something. He's pure quality.
But again, c'est la vie.
As for the bet, I would agree with you. He's probably not coming to us. Value for money I disagree with, though. If we don't pay the €30m, that will simply mean we weren't ever going to spend that on any one player, no matter who.
We are Swansea City, we only do bargain-bin prices on typically less-than-stellar talent. Expecting us to spend big on a guy who created the most chances in La Liga is asking a lot.

So on one hand you say you dont listen to articles or statistics, then use them as a reason why you think he is good? SQUAWKA also had Leon Britton as the best passer in Europe above Xavi one year. They also have his performance stats incredibly low and agree with me regarding his performances this seasom, yet that doesnt suit your stance so you disagree.
That is your issue I think, you read too many articles and let it cloud your judgement on absolutely everything.

Have you been watching him this season? He would barely make our bench. Gets dispossessed far too easily, his first touch lets him down a lot. Not to mention his penalty miss! The only chance he has of getting a move is if someone like Bristol City or Middlesbrough thinks he's worth a £10m bid
Like most games, he ran the show in the middle AND created the chances for Las Palmas. He would have had three or four assists if his teammates had a bit more luck/composure, and scored a perfectly-taken goal off a nice cross by Halilovic (a young talent who sparkled throughout and we should look to buy from Hamburg next summer). But Viera was phenomenal, and exactly what we're missing (as I've said all summer): creativity/poise/end product/aggression/leadership/free kicks/etc. His movement and skills are world-class, and about as perfect a match for us as possible. Shame The Americans didn't have the "ambition" to take us to that "next level" this summer.
He was a true bargain for £27m, especially considering we'll end up paying £16.5m for Clucas (who is less than 11 months younger than Viera and redundant in our squad). Baffling decision by the club, particularly if we had a €25m bid rejected. Typical Jenkins' cheapskate bbullsshitt, but with a Clement-wonderkid thrown in to distract the masses. Check out the highlights below for a brief visual of what we could have had leading our attack this season, instead of Leroy Fer FFS:
Jesus, let it go. Leroy Fer would run the show against Malaga too.
He was abysmal the other day and you didnt want to know about stats then. For you to say he was a bargain for £27m is laughable. Just like you claiming Mesa was a bargain.

Move on.
No, Leroy Fer probably wouldn't with all due respect.

Let's not forget a group of players together can look world beaters but alone they are nothing. We at Swansea know this more than most. Our transfers out confirms this.
Nolan sympathiser, clout expert, personal friend of Leigh Dineen, advocate and enforcer of porridge swallows.
The official inventor of the tit w@nk.
However he is doing at Las Palmas, he would have struggled in our side so far this season. Creative players need teammates to take a gamble and make intelligent runs for them to pick out. Tammys movement is very good and Ayew will always be unpredictable, but we haven't had enough of it so far. Bony and Sanches will be able to open up gaps, but they need people exploiting them.
As an aside, we may as well drop this Viera talk? At least until January?

With respect back, he could.
Check out the goals and assists. They are embarrassing. A 4 v 4 in the first half for the first goal? When would that ever happen in the EPL? The through ball later, the lack of tracking the wide player, the ease of the second goal.
I'm sorry but that is parks stuff.

Fer has scored more goals in open play this season and last season with us than Viera has scored for Las Palmas during that time, with the PL being the superior league of course. I am not saying one is better than the other, but Fer's goalscoring threat is obvious. He is chronically underrated by our fans.
La Liga is dominated by Barca, Real and Atletico. Beneath that there isnt an awful lot of substance. If you merged both La Liga and the PL, although the league would be won by Barca or Real in my opinion - the top 20 would be overwhelmingly PL.
Malaga are joint bottom of the league on zero points, they are a powder-puff team.
In the game previous when he actually played a decent side he was rated as the worst midfielder on the pitch by both Whoscored.com and SKWAWKA, which of course is the same sources used for when he has a good game - yet these sources are deemed unreliable then.
He was given 0.5 stars out of 5 by one site. This is the game I watched and commented on how awful he was, he looked horrendously out of his depth. The issue with that is rather than 3 sides of that quality in his league (Barca, Real and Atletico), if he signed for us then he would double that instantly due to the strength of our league. Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and to a certain extent Arsenal is no easy task for a player coming into our league from being used to La Liga - ask Roque Mesa.

Don't really care about Viera, but when you're talking about how weak La Liga is behind the Big 3, Sevilla and their 3 Europa Leagues in a row (2014-2016) would like a word with you...
You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.
