Monk, Laudrup & where next? 21:55 - Apr 26 with 1865 viewslittleleon

This is my first post in a while — was just pondering whether the club were right to sack Laudrup and is Monk the man for the job? Here’s my thoughts on the situation - I’ll prob get slated, but would be interested to know others genuine opinions, not silly comments/jokes please!
Personally I think the club were right to sack ML as things weren’t right and the players have responded since on the pitch at least.
ML Problems - ML had to endure the awful injury list, Europa League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup(COC :-) ) fixtures and a very tough fixture list during December/January. There’s obviously more to the ML’s sacking than just the results(although they weren’t good) and disharmony within the squad - however big/small it was there was some unrest and the players seem to have responded positively(on the pitch at least) since ML’s sacking?
GM Performances - The teams performances have been better under GM, there is still some obvious unrest/disharmony within the camp(Canas, Pozuelo? Michu possibly? Training ground bust ups etc) so everything isn’t all nice and rosy and some would have us believe. Personally I don’t have an awful lot of confidence in GM as a permanent manager — he seems to be able to motivate the players and is committed to the club and ‘the Swansea way’, but tactically I’m just not convinced — I would bet that a lot of people today were thinking the same as me i.e. no shape to the side, needed subs earlier etc?? The fact that we won comfortably against a poor Villa side with not a lot to play for(they’re probably safe?) could disguise the fact that I personally thought we were tactically poor today, and not for the first time under Monk! As Monk said himslef we've played better than we did today and lost! Here’s your chance to slate me — we won comfortably and I’m moaning etc!! I’d rather moan after a win than jump on the bandwagon with everyone else after a defeat. Please don’t misunderstand me — I’m not one of these that thought ML could do no wrong — I think the club were right to sack him, but am not convinced that Monk should get the permanent job! Here’s some facts

Laudrup Wins(Prem League) — West Brom(a), Palace(a),Sunderland(h) Fulham(h&a), Newcastle(h)
Monk Wins(Prem League) - Cardiff(h), Norwich(h), Newcastle(a), Villa(h)

Looking at the above we have only really won against the bottom sides(except Newcastle who are currently in freefall) and you could argue that ML would have won the games that GM did(who knows?), but no big/real differences! GM has done what he had to, and all credit to him, but I genuinely think there will be big problems in the future if GM gets the permanent job, personally I think we’ll get relegated nest season under GM — feel free to bump this/slate me in 12 months if I’m wrong(and I’m sure some of you will :-) ) and here's why:-
ML was a good tactical manager, and GM is a good motivator! We need a good tactical manager that can motivate players(easier said than done I know) — could the new manager, if it isn’t GM, keep GM as an assistant? Well would you be happy if you went for a job and the person competing against you was then asked to be your assistant? Would you trust them? Most wouldn’t and I can’t see many potential new managers accepting this scenario as many fans seem to want.
Personally I’d like to see GM stay at the club for life as part of the backroom staff(similarly to Curtis at present), but at present he is making this more difficult for himself by stating he wants to be No1 — something Curtis has never done? What if things don’t work out well for Monk and the board feel the need to sack him(inevitable at some point, unless your name is Ferguson/Wenger?) does that mean Monk has to leave the club for good? Probably! And I want Monk to stay for Life and being manager isn't going to help with this!
I think we need a manager with more experience than Monk for the Premier League — it’s not really the place for Managers to cut their teeth? Please Huw and co. — don’t do it!! Keep Monk at the club and in the background for years to come, don’t give him ‘the poisoned chalice’ !!

Yes and I'm more relieved than anyone - it doesn't mean that Monk should be given the job permanently though - see above!
