Luke Williams : ‘We were appalling, I will not accept that’ Peart-Harris ?
Thursday, 29th Aug 2024 08:00 by Keith Haynes

It’s very hard to accept what we saw last night in the 1-0 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers. We take nothing away from Wycombe’s game at all, but it’s the Swans who seem to already have big problems.

The attitude of the players in last nights game was far too nonchalant, and that was captured in head coach, Luke Williams post match comments. “I think we were appalling in the first half, Wycombe were miles better than us. We did not get anything because we did not deserve anything. There was a lack of energy and intensity in that first half, and that is appalling, I will not accept that”

Well, we said the same in our match report at the end of the game, and as yet not one Swansea City fan has messaged, called or agreed any differently. It was a shambles.

Williams went on. “But it was the lack of energy. The lack of intensity. The lack of aggression. The lack of quality. A disjointed performance. They've certainly been told they can't come out with that type of lethargic attitude about their performance."

To be honest this side has been the same for two seasons overall, and those words really do sum up the state of play when you review performances and indeed statistics. The usual stats produced the usual result, an ineffective, slow, boring and pointless game of football.

And then the real killer, no through balls in the game whatsoever. Just the usual negative and dishonest way the side play short passes to each other. Well over six hundred that generally went nowhere. No players seeing options ahead of them, and when in space unable to take on an opponent, and then reverting to passing backwards.

Azeem Abdulai and Matt Grimes again allowed the game down to reach levels where Williams has to look at those two options. Jay Fulton is another who has the production line of a bankrupt business struggling to be what they once were, but completely unable to do it. This is the area the Swans are in most trouble, no creativity and little nouse in where they should be looking and wanting to be. It’s been a summer of hope with what looks like good attacking signings but honestly, that was a complete shower. We know full well that Luke uses the ‘tag line’ that Swansea is a great springboard to bigger and better clubs when encouraging signatures. Well, nothing from last night would interest any non league club let alone anything else. (Stats WhoScored)

⚽️ Transfer update : A player that is likely to come in is Myles Peart-Harris from Brentford, it will be on loan before the window closes tomorrow, that is if the wheels can be put into motion for the final day properly. We have had our say regards this player already with a full brief on him on July 5th this summer.

That’s here —> ⚽️ Peart-Harris news

If you have a mind to, Luke Williams interview is below, well, the bits the club want you to hear.

West Bromwich Albion away comes up quickly on Saturday. Play like that and Cardiff City losing 5-0 at Burnley will look like a close game. Lose it heavily and the pressure will increase to levels Luke Williams hasn’t experienced so far at Swansea City.

Appalling Performance . . We totally lack a midfielder with the vison to pick out a pass. That was more than evident last Sunday against Cardiff when forward players made runs and we nonchalently played balls across the opark or backwards. We need our midfielders to be forward thinking. Last night we simply did not trun up and got our just rewards . . Shocking !!!
