Thank you in advance for reading this.

SAVE THE POPPIES

Kettering Town FC (the Poppies) was formed in 1872. We are a proud member of the Blue Square Premier and are one of the most successful and famous non league sides, well known for our giant killing exploits in the FA Cup. Kettering Town are actually the leading FA Cup goal scorers in history, had the first sponsorship upon our shirts and the first team to have their initials in their floodlights.

We have been managed by Tommy Lawton, Ron Atkinson, Derek Dougan, Gary Johnson, Carl Shutt, Paul Gascoigne and Mark Cooper.

England International, Jack Froggatt was both a Kettering player and manager. Dave Watson, another England International played for us. Keith Alexander, Richard Butcher, Zema Abbey, Cohen Griffith and Billy Kellock are other notable players who have featured for us.

This club now needs to raise £40,000 by the end of February otherwise it could cease to exist. Imagine your club being in this position, imagine having no football to watch on a Saturday. We are obviously desperate for our club to survive. This club cannot be allowed to die.

Please help the Poppies to stay in bloom.

Donations are welcome via Paypal using the address savektfc@poppiestrust.co.uk, or by cheque made payable to Kettering Town (Poppies) Supporters Trust, to PO Box 6492, Kettering, NN16 0YT.

Thank you.

Good luck Kettering. Really hate to see small local teams disappear.

As for KetteringRs, I think you upset him with that cup game thread many MB's ago, on rivals I think. You know, that very long thread.

Poll: Do you enjoy NorthermRs presser posts, and wish to see them every week?

Kettering could be saved by one premiership player looking for the money down the back of his sofa!

Come on Joey! WTF do you need all of this week's pay packet for? You've been in Portugal ffs! Plus, you know as well as we do that you've not been playing very well...............

GIVE 40K to The Poppies!

Harsh as it is on Darlington fans, they are a club that should not be saved...

Darlington would be far better served starting again in non-league without Reynolds' stadium weighing them down and clearing out the £1m+ debt they'll never service in their present form.

Darlington are flogging a dead horse. Like Jamie says, much better served starting afresh in the town and finding their natural level a la AFC Wimbledon, FC United, Halifax etc. Darlington in that ground with those debts isn't worth saving, you'd have a much better club within 18 months by letting it die and starting again.

Kettering have been grossly mismanaged for years, like so many clubs. Don't even play in Kettering any more, there's a big stadium that they sold to get out of previous sht sitting unused in Kettering while they play ten miles down the road in the middle of nowhere at what used to be Rushden's ground. Terrible shame, it's a top club waiting to happen really with excellent support.

The fans will enjoy the level that they end up at just like AFC Wimbledon have and just like we did in League One.

If we go bust then so be it. I'll watch us at Wormwood Scrubs. Not bailing out footballers and owners any more.

Talking of Rushden, where, when or why did it all go wrong for them? Their demise seems to have passed me by.

The owner died and he was subsidising them massively. Similar situation to Gretna.

They had a tidy side that year that we drew 3-3 down there. Onandi Lowe was class but seems to have disappeared.
