Not as much as Anderson & Madsen do mine in
Smyth gives everything , he may not be the best but at least he gives 100 %
Anderson because he has long hair wears a retro QPR shirt and drinks soya milk moccas is lauded as some Scandinavian maverick who can do no wrong
He is utter crap

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

As a Norn Iron lad, I so wanted him to succeed with us...but he is awful. But as PP says...he doesn't go missing like so many others. You just can't compete at this level with the quality of this team and squad...bar one or two exceptions. L1 at best most of them.

I wouldn’t say his awful but his ability to beat a man dig out a pass to his team mates , have a decent end product is just not here . He’s league one at best .
However It’s a low bar at the moment. Anderson and Madsen need to up their game because they are awful at the moment.
Piss poor performance for the idiots like me who travelled.

I thought Paul Smyth tried and contributed more than Saito, Dembele, Andersen and Madsen (individually and collectively). How those 4 stayed on the pitch for as long as they did I don't know.

I agree with the OP. I can't think of another player we've had who can get himself into great positions but fluffs the final ball time after time.

And, at the moment, he's not even providing the boost as a sub that he's done in the past.

At the moment they all do my head in, except Frey who is trying his best. Really poor show today nothing happening other than 3 easy points for Derby.

He is not the only one fluffling the final ball, very noticeable for me the past few games. Can't blame Marti for that.

Never understood the re-signing of Smythe but it has worked out slightly better than I expected.

I love you epping forest tucker and tate bongo Steve. ..

I ring you up every thursday night to bend your ear with tales of my love for you.

However Bexy , as much as i love the overwheleming passion Smyth has for the blue and white hoops his final touch is worse than jeremey beadles right hand with a pack of haribos strapped to knob wandering the under 13 section of barnados at 2am. And i love him.

Don't think QPR, can carry Dembele, Smyth, Saito , Madsen and Anderson in the matchday 17 at the same time. Its micheal bentines pottytime on steroids.

Collectively they're Lighter than a pack of Durex fetherlite Ultra thin.

A 46 game championship will eat them alive.

Gary Penrice was decent. I reckon we'd take him now. I don't think Smyth is the problem either, i think there is something to work with. Work on the end product and thetes a decent player there. Surely thats what all these coaches are supposed to do. As opposed to some of the othrrs who are just gash

Fair point mate.

That quartet remind me of Davis with his transisitor radio on his first day in the dormitory of borstal.

Easy prey for the Daddy's of the championship. No snout Dolly mixtures in a brutal world.

Sorry, with all due respect, that's crap. That is VERY harsh on Gary Penrice.
In no way whatsoever did he look out of place in one of the best two or three teams we've ever had in our history.

In fact in that 1992/93 season, he was just starting to strike up a brilliant partnership with Les (8 goals between them in five games over Christmas and New Year) when he had his leg broken by a disgraceful tackle at Middlesbrough. Him and Super Ray getting long term injured at near enough the same time derailed our season where we could have easily been top two or three.

After he came back the following season, he could never quite get it going again with Les but was still a more than useful striker with 8 goals in 24 starts. I shall always remember that second half in the pissing rain at LR in October 1992 when he tore Spurs apart and deserved a hat trick.

GP was good, he had a knack of scoring at a vital time too, In front of the loft once he bought the ball in done three defenders inside out and dispatched the ball into the back of the net.

Porn star moustache too.

I thought the same, but read the post again and i think it's to do with mustache panache rather than football ability.

Smyth compared to penrice is Ron lyle compared to John L gardner. i.e different worlds. Penrice was a solid 6.5 to 7 /10 striker in top tier company back in the mid 90's. Smyth is freebase coca at the bottom of the barell in comparrison . i.e fu ck all.

The notion that 'gives a 100%' is some incredible attribute in a player is utter tosh - it should be seen as a basic effing non-negotiable given from 'every' player.

Smyth's inability to do the simple when he's often done the hard work is as much a failure as it is frustrating and merely because he ran very fast to get there isn't enough.

If a bloke is giving it his absolute all but is ultimately not delivering, then more often than not, it's on the club, not the player. Where it's on the player is when they suddenly stop doing the simple.

Smyth tries all the time and while I don't blame him, his return to QPR was symbolic of the self-created mess those above him have put us in.

He is a league one player at most and to sign him second time was a big brain fart from those who involved.

Paul Smyth on 09:11 - Oct 6 with 2659 viewsnumptydumpty

He tries hard and beats his man and has pace too.

It's quite hard to get 100 out of 100 balls off target but that is his peculiar skill.

Am sure many managers have attempted to cure this particular dilemma but as yet no luck.

A frustrating player and not because he is bad but he is so close to being definitely decent but it seems he is stuck and cannot get the missing piece right.

He can make a difference although rare, there are others more in the firing line than Smyth...

Paul Smyth is not the problem. He’s not in the top 5 problems with our side. Not even close.

Whether he should be a starter, a back up, or not at the club is a separate discussion.

Madsen
Andersen
Our full backs (when Dunne is not a RB)
Our centre forwards
The shape and system we are trying to play
Our lack of pace in the squad
Our lack of physicality in our squad
The end product of Saito and Dembele
Our record with Dunne at centre back instead of JCS
Colback’s lack of brain/suspension record
Varane’s lack of brain
Field’s weakness is passing forwards progressively
….just about all come before:
Smyth, as a substitute winger, and his end product.
